FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD
June 12 2023

Present: Doug Lucente, Chair; Norman Cohen; Ed Grant; Rev. Claire Feingold Thoryn; Joe Pato; Alan
Fields, Melissa Interess, Director of Human Services and Kim Katzenback, Executive Clerk to the Select
Board.
Mr. Lucente stated the remote participation meeting is being held remotely as posted with the agenda.
1) Money Available as of 5/31/2023 Ending Principal balance: $300,982.74
Ending Income balance: $3,459.41
2) Human Services
Human Services Report
Ms. Interess reported the following activity for the Human Services funds dispersed for the period:
• Fund for Lexington
o $390.09 out of the Heating Assistance Program for one family (Remaining balance -
$3,453.35)
• Human Services Emergency Fund (non COVID related) $4,554 Rent assistance for three families
• Human Services Gift Fund (non COVID related) $1,800 damage repairs for 1 family
• Lexpress subsidized passes fiscal year to date - 38 passes and 5 replacement passes for a total
value of $8,980
• Gift Cards - $875 in food/clothing cards; Wegman’s Gift Card Program $26,175 disbursed to 136
households
• Covid-19 Financial Assistance (Takeda and FFL Contributions)
o Disbursed $2,475 on 1/31/023 for Covid-19 related assistance
▪ Takeda Balance: $38,411.82
▪ FFL Balance: $25,000
Discuss Potential Parameters for the $25,000 FFL Covid-19 Financial Assistance Contribution
Ms. Interess noted there is a bigger need for funding related to housing financial assistance. She spoke of
a partnership program available from Metro Housing Boston. The cost of this partnership program is
$14,000 annually, which would provide Lexington with a housing case manager, a half day a week, or
once every other week.
Upon a motion duly made and seconded, by roll call, the Fund for Lexington Board voted 6-0 to disperse
$14,000 from the Fund for Lexington COVID balance for a one-year partnership with the Metro Housing
Boston program to assist with housing issues for Lexington residents.
3) Proposed Meeting dates
The Board reviewed and confirmed the following dates for upcoming Fund for Lexington Board
meetings:
• September 11, 2023
• December 4, 2023
4) Approval of March 13, 2023 Meeting Minutes
On a motion duly made and seconded, by roll call, the Fund for Lexington Board voted 6-0 to approve the
March 13, 2023 meeting minutes.
