Commissioner Absent: Associate Commissioners Present: Associate Commissioner Absent: Staff Present: Siqing Pan, Department Assistant th Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the August 10, 2023 Historic Districts Commission meeting to order at 5:08pm. CONTINUED HEARING Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 1575 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior changes (Solar Carports) in the Battle Green Historic District Documents Updated proposed plans: dated August 10, 2023 The applicants explained the updated proposed plans of solar carports. The Commission agreed to continue this application to September meeting. William Erickson, 31 Sherman St, stated that he supported the efforts that were shown on the meeting. He stated that breaking up the center part of solar carports by going higher would be better to alter the perception. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 1736 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Signage) in the Battle Green Historic District Documents Full plan set of proposed alteration: dated June 8, 2023 Photographs of entire place of each building elevation visible from the public way: dated May 18, 2023 Material List: dated May 18, 2023 Work Scope Narrative: dated May 18, 2023 Historic Districts Commission 1 / 2 Owner Authorization Letter: dated May 22, 2023 The architect explained the proposed signage plans at 1736 Mass Ave. The Commission felt the proposed changes were partially appropriate. They conditionally approved this application with modifications. The final proposed plans will be subject to Dan Hisel’s review. No public comments. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy made a motion to approve this application subject to the suggestions that have been made during the hearing to be reviewed and a Certificate of Appropriateness will be issued after Dan Hisel’s review and approval. Robin Lovett seconded. Motion carried, all in favor. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 4 Hunt Road, exterior alterations (Living Room Additions) in the Munroe Tavern Historic District Documents Updated proposed plans: dated August 2, 2023 The homeowner/architect explained the updated proposed additions plans at 4 Hunt Road. The Commission felt the proposed changes were appropriate. No public comments. Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 4 Hunt Road. Motion carried, all in favor. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 4 Percy Road, exterior alterations (Garage Additions) in the Munroe Tavern Historic District Documents 4 Percy Road _ Tavern Lane Views_07-27-23: dated July 27, 2023 The architect explained the proposed renovation and addition plans at 4 Percy Road. The Commission agreed to continue this application to next HDC meeting. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy recused himself because he is a board member of Lexington Historical Society, which has an association with Munroe Tavern. Lee Noel Chase has been served as liaison for this application. No public comments. ACTION ITEMS stth Consideration and vote on Meeting Minutes of the meeting held on June 1, 2023, June 14, 2023, thth July 6, 2023 & July 13, 2023: The Commission made a motion to approve the minutes of the stththth meeting held on June 1, 2023, June 14, 2023, July 6, 2023 & July 13, 2023 as written.
