Brief Committee Assignment Reports
Linda Dixon: Reported that approximately $12,000 received from sponsors so far. Linda is
working with Dick Michelson to assign sponsors to marching units. Linda also reported that 27
parade ambassadors have volunteered so far. More outreach to schools will happen this week
so more ambassadors are expected to volunteer.
Paul Jenkins: Dave Taylor will be available to help on Patriots’ Day.
Bob Tracey: Sent letter to Stop and Shop asking for 20 cases of water.
Julie Miller: Reported that she spoke with Barry Cunha about the tickets he requested and gave
the information to Cerise.
Carol Flynn: Reported that the Girl Scouts requested that their location in the afternoon parade
NOT be behind the Old Time Fire Engine because of health reasons.
Karen Gaughan: Has made index cards for the new marching units. Parade marching order
will be determined at the next TCC meeting on 4/6.
Sandy Podgorski: No changes have been made to the calendar. Sandy will check to see if the
parking map has been posted to the town web site yet.
Geetha Padaki: Has contacted the IAAL about providing parade ambassadors. Geetha
confirmed that she has communicated with the Bhakti group about expectations for their
participation in the parade.
Melanie: Forwarded a request for ambassadors to the CAAL mailing list.
Wayne Miller: Reported that the VA bus will not participate in this year’s parade.
Bill Mix: Asked what marching units need to do about their vehicles that will be in the parade.
The committee agreed that the vehicle drivers need to be able to provide insurance and license
information on the day of the parade.
Diana Bishop: RSVPs are beginning to come in from the VIPs who received individual
invitations. (22 invitations were sent.) Due date for RSVPs is next week.
Lorain Marquis asked the TCC members to start thinking about possible parade marshals for
the Memorial Day parade.
Kim Coburn: Reported that plans with the LHS Marching Band are well under way for
Patriots’ Day.
Patriots Day, Monday, April 18, 2016
2015 White Tricorn Hat and Minuteman Cane Winners: Paul Jenkins asked whether the 2015
winners should be included in this year’s parade since last year’s afternoon parade was
cancelled. During discussion by the TCC, Lorain offered to look into the issue. Peter Kelley’s
car usually carries the White Tricorn winner; John Carroll’s car usually carries the Minuteman
Cane winner. Carol Flynn asked if the signs on the cars will be large enough to hold the names
of both the 2015 and 2016 winners.
Karen Gaughan volunteered to call Marie Hill about including the 2015 Minuteman
Cane winner.
Rich McDonough volunteered to talk to Dick Michelson about including the 2015
White Tricorn winner.
Youth Award Recipients: Paul Jenkins will ask Peter Kelley for another car to carry the Youth
Award Recipients in the afternoon parade.
Seating: Lorain talked with the DPW to find out the exact numbers of seats that will be
available. For the morning re-enactment, there will be two sets of bleachers with 75 seats each,
and a reviewing stand that holds 30 people standing (no seats). For the afternoon parade, the
reviewing stand will be available (30 people standing), and one set of bleachers (75 seats).
Florence DelSanto of LexMedia has asked for a parade roster. The committee suggested that
she be invited to attend the 4/13 TCC meeting, since the roster will not be ready until then.
Diana Bishop was asked to send a VIP invitation to General Rice of the National Guard for the
re-enactment and afternoon parade. General Rice should RSVP with the number of tickets he
will need for his party.
Ticket Issues: Special requests for tickets will be handled by Lorain as they come in, on a case-
by-case basis. VIPs were asked to return an RSVP form to indicate how many tickets they need
for each event. When the RSVPs are returned, TCC will arrange for tickets to be available for
them. Tickets for Town-related VIPs will be held at the Town Hall for pick-up. Tickets for all
other VIPs will be mailed to them.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Suzanne Caton, Co-Secretary
