Brief Committee Assignment Reports
Diana: VIP invitations have gone out, will start tracking them. She will take on the
responsibility of monitoring committee finances, tracking expenses etc.
Bill Mix: The dress rehearsal for the Battle Reenactment is set for April 3 at 2:00 p.m. With
the death of Reverend Peter Meek, they will need to find a replacement to portray Jonas Clarke.
Bob Tracey: Tony Barrie has called several times re reinstatement; they didn't receive an
invitation this year. Lorain advised that we are at our budget maximum. They are welcome to
apply next year.
Melanie - delivered programs to Community Center and will bring second batch this weekend.
CAAL is considering using the dragon from their Chinese New Year celebration in the Patriots
Day Parade, perhaps next year. The committee strongly encouraged this idea.
Sandy: all programs have been delivered to a wide group of places with plenty left over to
handle requests for more. Lorain congratulated her on great job.
Karen: dropped off programs at Wilson’s; they were happy to accept a batch. Spoke with
Dennis Cook, who usually helps with crowd control at Reenactment. He is unavailable this
year but assures us he will help again next year.
Linda: Has recruited one more Parade Ambassador, possibly two, total now 9 or 10. One PA
asked for a National Honor Society service certificate. These will be made available. The
student offered to recruit his fellow NHS students to march and gain service credits. Regarding
sponsors, several forms have been received. Two businesses have made cash donations and do
not wish to have a banner. The group discussed having a promotion piece in the Minuteman
next year inviting anyone to contribute to the parade, to encourage donations and stay within
the town’s legal solicitation guidelines.
Patriots Day, Monday, April 18, 2016
Buses from LHS to Registration Area: the letter requesting buses will go out shortly. Lorain’s
neighbors have volunteered to supervise the bus shuttle from the LHS parking lot to the
registration area.
New parade inquiries: Several new groups have inquired about participating in the parade.
They will be put on the invitation list for 2017.
Langley Winds Band to perform: The Air Force Langley Winds Band, which performed in
Cary Hall in November 2014 when it was called the Heritage of America Band, will perform a
free concert on a Thursday evening in June. TCC’s responsibility will be to print programs,
provide a meal for the band, and serve as ushers at the concert. More details will follow.
Rain plan: Lorain will set up a rain plan meeting with Chief Corr and selected others.
Walk-through: there will be a walk-through of key portions of the parade close to the parade
date.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Dixon, Co-Secretary
