Pre - Meeting Tasks Review of handouts & minutes Attendance: Present:Cristina Burwell (Chair), Lynne Klemmer, Seetha Ramnath, Jean Hart„ Jessie Steigerwald, Susan Hammond, Faith Lin Absent: Cheryl Meadows, Diana South, Leslie Masson Guests: Rebecca McGowen (LC4A applicant), David Williams (Lincoln Park Cmte.) Recording Secretary: Seetha Ramnath Meeting start time: 7:03pm 1. WELCOME - Chairperson 2. REPORTS a. Secretary's Report i. Approval of previous meeting's minutes - approved Faith Lin, seconded by Lynne Klemmer b. Treasurer's Report i. Local Revenue update to be made next month, as Treasurer unable to attend meeting c. Grants Report i. Upcoming Grant events • No events planned for March, April has several planned ii. Grant Publicity • Susan will provide write -up in Lexington Minuteman Lex. Historical Society grantee extension request • Vietnam exhibit reimbursement extension granted d. Communications Report i. Website • Facebook presence is more regular • No comments on anything missing from website ii. Newsletter • The Council has a MailChimp account, and now just needs someone who knows how to use it! The goal of instituting an arts council newsletter is to develop a friends list to circulate information about the Lexington Arts Scene via artist interviews, event listings, etc. iii. Other e. Fundraising Report • Application to Community of Lexington - $5,000 investment for town -wide mailing to gather interest in an arts council newsletter, and to establish an Annual Appeal, as done earlier in the Council's history. Incoming funds from an annual appeal could be applied to Town arts programming or public art. 3. NEW BUSINESS a. Granite Forest project at Lincoln Park - David Williams • Request for a token amount of support granted from LC4A, will discuss with Diana next month regarding available funds b. Connecting retailers to gallery artists • Retailers have been directed to the artists listing and helped to connect with artists they 1 of 2 would like to show at their store. When the Council learns of a retailer's interest to show work they are also able to post on the Town artist email group. c. LCO Update • Formal request for extension to receive LC4A state fund grant approved. Report will be provided by the end of April in coordination with Cary Library staff d. Parade Plans • Council members were asked to sign up to help walk in the parade 4. OLD BUSINESS a. ArtsOffroad Update - May 14th - Bike Art is a new idea for this year's event. Members were encouraged to sign up for a few hours during the event to be with the "welcome table ". b. 2017 Projects - need sub - committee to review - TBC next meeting c. New Grants Evaluation format will be reviewed in September 2016. Faith Lin will be reviewing how to make this form quantitative. 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS a. Next LC4A Meeting: April 11, 2016 - Rm. 237, Town Community Center b. Lexington Open Studios: April 9 & 10 c.
