Lexington Biosafety Committee Meeting, March 30, 2016

Biosafety Committee Attendees:
Director Gerard Cody, R.E.H.S. /R.S., Burt Perlmutter, M.D.,
Janice Pero Ph.D., Chief John Wilson.

Attendee/ Representative:
Heike Keilhack, Ph.D., Vice president, Transitional Sciences; Ribon Therapeutics.
Jeff L. Ellsworth, Ph.D., Senior Director, Discovery Operations; Homology Medicines Inc.
Cody called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m.
Cody made a motion to have Perlmutter activated as a temportary member of the Biosafety
Committee, in the absence of Wendy Heiger- Bernays, PhD. Wilson seconded the motion.
Motion was unanimously passed.
Heike Keilhack, Ph.D., Vice president, Transitional Sciences for Ribon Therapeutics, appeared
before the Committee to request an rDNA permit for Ribon Therapeutics.
After much discussion there was a motion proposed by Cody, which stated that “The Lexington
Biosafety Committee provide an annual rDNA permit to Ribon Therapeutics, under the condition
that Ribon name the hazardous waste hauler.” Wilson, seconded the motion. All were in favor,
and the motion passed.
Jeff L. Ellsworth, Ph.D., Senior Director, Discovery Operations for Homology Medicines Inc.,
appeared before the Committee to request an rDNA permit for Homology Medicines Inc.
After much discussion there was a motion proposed by Cody, which stated that “The Lexington
Biosafety Committee provide an annual rDNA permit to Homology Medicines Inc., located at 44
Hartwell Avenue.” Perlmutter, seconded the motion. All were in favor, and the motion passed.
Cody motioned to adjourn. Perlmutter, seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM.
