HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinuteman Commuter Bikeway Committee - Charge 11-18-1985.pdf Charge to the Minute Man Commuter Bikeway Implementation Committee Functions of the Committee The Committee will be asked to advise the Selectmen on how the Bikeway Project should be carried out so as to serve the best interests of the Town of Lexington and the neighboring communities affected by the project. This will include: 1. Providing guidelines and suggestions on factors to be taken into account in the engineering design of the bikeway. These would cover paving width, safety at road crossings, drainage, limiting access to motorized vehicles, fencing, signing, landscaping, etc. 2. Reviewing and commenting on engineering plans and design as submitted to the Town for approval. 3. Advising on arrangements for the maintenance and security of the Bikeway. 4. Articulating the interests and concerns of abuttors, commuters and other neighborhood users of the facility. Membership The Committee will be chaired by the selectman who will also represent the Board in dealing with representatives of the Commonwealth and of the towns of Arlington, Bedford and Cambridge on bikeway issues. It will consist of ten members, five of them ex-officio and five chosen from concerned citizens. The ex-officio members will represent the Selectmen, the Conservation Commission, the Planning Board, the Recreation Committee and the Transporation Advisory Committee. The citizen members will be chosen to represent the interests of abuttors and users and to include those whose professional talents and skills could be helpful to the Committee in carrying out its assignments. 11/18/85
