LEXINGTON:. CABLE TV AND COMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE| Lexington, Massachusetts
. MEETING OF THE COMMITEE
13 November 1987
The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Frank P.
DiGiammarino, at 3: 30 P. M. Present were Leo P. McSweeney,
selectman, and members Kenneth E. Arnold, Stella Liu, Theodore
Mairson, William T. Spencer , Martha Stanton and John E. Ward.
The chairman introduced the letter he had written to Richard W.
Chandler, General Manager of Adams Russell and the 'letter he had
received in reply. These dealt with issues which had been
identified at this committee' s meetihg on October 22, 1987. Mr.
Chandler' s letter did not deal with the issues listed. It did
mention the departure of Wayne Ezell , Chief Technician, some ten
days earlier and stated that the performance time-table would be set
back three weeks. An enclosure to Mr . Chandler' s letter contained a
table labelled "LEXINGTON FRANCHISE COMMITMENT ANALYSIS" which was
supposed to provide " . . . substantiation of the financial commitments
for equipment operating expenses" . . . " Discussion concluded that- the
table was not "ANALYSIS" and that it provided no substantiation.
Mr. Chandler' s letter enclosed a letter he had received from
Anthony F. Peduto, General Manager of American Cablesystems
Northeast (CATV in Arlington) about service to residents of the
Golden Avenue area. Mr. Pedutko stated that they would be happy to
service the residents of this area if he received written permission
from the Lexington Board of Selectmen. Mr. McSweeney said that he
.would requ\est this permission from the Lexington Selectmen.
Mrs. Liu called our attention to the minutes of the meeting on
22 October 1987. The list, " Issues identified at Cable Advisory
Committee meeting, October 22, 1987" did not mention the problems
which have plagued the Institutional Trunk data link between the
Main library and the East Lexington branch. This has been the most
troublesome of all our data link problems on the Institutional Trunk
and has been sufferred the longest. The library has been forced to
install a telephone line as an emergency standby. The list in the
minutes has been amended to include the following:
Data link problems between main library and branch of Cary
