•Discovery Day
Is taking place on Saturday,May 27th
Our table will be staffed by the following volunteers:
Steve (all day)and Anwell (Set up)Marie (10-12),Ashley (10-11:30),Claudia
(12-2),Anwell (12-3),Elsie (will come when she can)
Elsie will plan an activity for children (Poppies project).Anwell will bring some
instruments.
Other ideas:Get a painter to teach people to paint?
-Talking points :Qr code for website
-Schedule of upcoming grants.
-Poster (Anwell)for porchfest to collect bands and sign up people
(Date of porchest,invitation to join,and recruit,add a qr code)
-Opportunity to apply for grants
-Information/blurbs from some of the grantees
-Liaisons of grantees need to get a blurb.We can use the paragraphs that
grantees offered..This should be on the website.Claudia will compile.
•FY 2023 projects discussion
−Porchfest (Steve)
❖Some updates :
Sub committee:Steve,Lisa,Ashley,Anwell,Claudia,Marie
●We have about 3 possible neighborhoods.
●About 12 houses from Lisa’s neighborhood .Baskin Rd.
●There is a second neighborhood with about 4 houses confirmed and
about 6 more.
●Then there is a third neighborhood near the center.Houses are spread
out (right now about 3 people are interested.
We would need about 60 bands.(Steve will receive the list of bands who
played in Arlington).
❖Advertising:
●Promote the event at Discovery Day.
●Add a QR code to the website.
●Steve will set up a meeting with Bruce who is one of the Arlington’s
Porchfest organizer.
●Organize a dance party.(We will need a dance band)-The cost could be
$3,000-$4,000.The venue for that band could be Hasting Park?Tower
Park (East Lexington)?The Stone building is a possibility,Munroe has a
backyard,Lexart has a large parking lot too.
−Fairy Homes (Ashley)
●The Garden Club is going to make fairy homes at their booth on
Discovery Day.
●Some schools will be putting fairy homes.
●There will be a puppet show at the Library by Puppeteer Margaret
Moody.
●A Scavenger hunt
Budget request :300 dollars (to make fairies)

−Bikeway Sculptures (Steve)
●This project should be done by June.
●Small sculpture installed near the visitor center (budgeted $3,000 but
will cost more)
●The Cultural District funding will be applied to that project.
●The sculptures will need approval because they will be installed on the
bikeway.
●6 submissions so far :We reached out to local artists and architectural
firms and we have 6 offers and we could complete all 6.
−Utility boxes (Steve)
●The new Utility boxes project just started.We had a small jury select
designs and we have 3 artists working on these designs .They are
supposed to be completed at the end of june.
●There is a project Manager.
●The 2,000 dollars are for the Curator and the artists.To be paid by the
end of June.
−Other projects :
●Outdoor Music Festival-Anwell will take the lead on that project.
●We should be planning the 250 anniversary.Other organization are
beginning to plan
●Dance around the world :March 2024
●Next June :Garden Tour
•Cultural District ribbon cutting (May 18th)
•Future meeting venue(s)
●We will continue to meet by zoom .
●Have some kind of summer or Fall party get together.(Ashley offering her
house).
●Doug Urban has resigned.
