Nationally, e ch ye. 26 per 100,100 US residents 19 years of . ge or yo ger get into a sledding
accident that re•uires going to the emergency room.' Assuming that national 4verages c.11 be applie
to Lexington's population of n estimated 31,913 gives us an estimated 8 emergency room visits for
Lexington kids per year, 1.49 of which would be on public 1.11d, This is a very conservative estimate as
large p s of the col I 'try never have the weather conditions for sledding, d even fewer have the
-.
length of the sledding season th t we have.

CRICKET - INTRODUCTION
• Cricket is a bat - and -ball game played between two teams of 11 players each on
a field at the center of which is a rectangular 22- yard -long pitch.
• The game is played by 120 million players in many countries, making it the
world's second most popular sport after association football.
• The bowler delivers the ball to the batsman who attempts to hit the ball with his
bat away from the fielders so he can run to the other end of the pitch and score
a run.
• Each batsman continues batting until he is out.
• Another major challenge is that unlike "baseball ", in cricket, the ball is typically
bounced on the field before the batter strikes the ball. Therefore the "batting
diamond" which in cricket lingo is called a "Pitch" needs to be quite even surface
to prevent uneven bounce of the ball.
• Cricket is the most popular sport of India. The current Indian diaspora in
Lexington has seen s major growth in numbers and would like to add to our local
community some flavored of our popular culture and activities in the last 2 years.
• In 1844, the first international cricket match took place between the United
States and Canada (although neither has ever been ranked as a Test - playing
nation, cricket was the most popular team sport in America until its displacement
by baseball in the 1860s).

A 'HOME FIELD' FOR CRICKET.
We are looking to your leadership to help us get set with the right platform and
space required in our town to play and enjoy this second most popular sport of the
world.
The youth of Lexington, from age 7 unto 14 years have been trying to learn and
play cricket in Lexington since last 3 years on uneven grounds and always
competing for space and time.
Another major challenge is that unlike "baseball ", in cricket, the ball is typically
bounced on the field before the batter strikes the ball. Therefore the "batting
diamond" which in cricket lingo is called a "Pitch" needs to be quite even surface
to prevent uneven bounce of the ball.
Our request would be to find a field that we can call the 'Home Field' for cricket,
and all it needs is a 22 Yards X 10 Feet rectangle space in the middle of the field
that is even and flat as per cricketing standards. This rectangle pitch can be astro-
turf as a better option.

• Install four light towers at Lincoln Fielz
• Modern, environmentally sensitive lighting
• On /off controlled remotely by the Town
• Privately funded and constructed

• Partners
• Town of Lexington
• Sanborn Head — engineering consultants
• Musco — world -wide leader in athletic lighting
RECEIVED
DEI
• Lexington youth sports growing
• Demand for fields is highest on weekday evenings
• A lighted field fills seasonal needs for youth soccer
• In the fall, allows practice after early darkness, until 8:3opm
• In the spring, when more sports are active, allows a second
practice slot in the evening, 7:oo- 8:3opm
• Lighting an existing field is more cost effective than
developing new land for athletic fields
• Artificial turf can handle intense use; grass cannot
• Temporary lights not a long -term solution
• Noisy, low quality Tight, expensive to operate
