E. Mead informed the council that Shaun Dever has
volunteered to temporarily replace Ms Wilson who is
currently on maternity leave.

3. Let's Chat Follow up
• Due to conflict, a new date for Mathematics Let's Chat
was proposed and approved by Council (Feb 26)
• Ms. Hendrix updated the Council with follow -on activities
since October Let's Chat feedback which included:
o Lunch survey of all 5th grade students which
confirmed the students' desire to sit with one
another
o A representative committee of four (4) students
per 5th grade classroom was formed and has met
already with and under Ms. Hendrix's leadership
to discuss steps towards less restrictive
lunchroom seating. The group will implement the
ability for 2 classrooms sit together as a first step.
o A question and answer period between the
council and Ms Hendrix ensued which provided
additional details on this topic, including the
reasons how this restrictive lunchroom seating
came about, results of an informal poll of other

elementary schools in the district and possible
long-term solutions.
A representative group of concerned 5i" grade parents
spoke and read a statement summarizing their concerns
on this same topic (with copy provided to Ms Mead).
Highlights included personal experiences, request to
return open seating and increased transparency to all 59.'
grade parents regarding the focused survey, next steps
and progress updates.
4. Student Survey
Future Topics
R. Londhe reviewed the updated student survey questions
with the Council. A few additional changes were needed
which will result in a delay in administration. A final review
and approval will occur at the next council meeting in
Janaury
January - finalizing the student survey
February - administer the survey

1. Apply changes to proposed student survey
2. Email message to all 5th grade parents summarizing
the lunchroom issue and steps being implemented
to address, including the survey results, student
committee formation and current progress.
