UNFINISHED BUSINESS/SCHOOL COMMITTEE ACTION ITEMS Policy Update Ms. Cuthbertson explained that the MASC website is currently down. She recommends that the Diverse Representation on Working Groups and Committees Policy be filed under either Section B (School Board Governance and Operations) or Section K (Community Relations). MASC suggested that this policy would best fit under KCB which is Community Involvement and Decision Making; however, it is a new policy so it would be under KCBC. The School Committee discussed and agreed that the policy will go under KCBC. Field Trip Approval Process Memo (for informational purposes only). Dr. Hackett summarized the detailed memo. JK 04/03/23 - DRAFT School Committee Questions/Comments: Ms. Sawhney asked the School Committee if they would like to re -look at the policy to see if they should be informed if students are going outside of the contiguous States. She was aware of the recent Hawaii trip by reading through the warrants. Mr. Freeman thinks that the language in the memo should be looked at. He would like to make sure that field trips are equitable to all students. Dr. Hackett added that the School Committee was notified of the Hawaii trip. Ms. Jay was surprised by the cost of the Hawaii trip. She thinks that when a trip has a long distance, a long duration, or an unusually high per -pupil cost it is worthy of some discussion. The refund process was also discussed. Dr. Hackett explained that she is hearing questions about how much trips cost, questions about communication, and questions about inclusivity. She suggested that this be sent to the Policy Subcommittee and that a few tweaks be made to the policy. The School Committee decided that this policy will be discussed during a Policy Subcommittee meeting and/or at a School Committee Retreat. ADJOURNMENT Ms. Lenihan made a motion to adjourn at 6:03 PM, Ms. Sawhney seconded. Ms. Cuthbertson took a roll call vote, passed 5-0. JK 04/03/23 - DRAFT
