Parent representative, IV1.1Yang, shared his experience at tis meeting of how he got involved in the Harrington Site Council. Determined the amount of surveys needed for students in Grades 3-5, so we will need to upgrade to paid version of Survey EVIorikey_ A motion and consensus was made to use funds for upgrade_ Discussion about the gradients on the survey (EX. Completely vs. strongly.). The council agreed to the gradients : Completely agree-agree-disagree- cornpletely • isagree Discussion that there should be some language/text showing at the beginning of the survey to explain to students, as well as a short paragraph with an explanation to teachers_ M. Motta Dardeno volunteered to write these two pieces of text. Discussion about the benefits of knowing at what grade_ students started at Harrington. Would results Harrington Elementary School Site Council Meeting Minutes 2015 -2016 Academic Year differ for a student who was fairly new to Harington vs. a student who started in Kindergarten? Council members agreed to add statement asking what grade the student started at Harrington. The order of questions on the survey was determined. The rollout dates for the survey were finalized: February 1, 2016 — explain survey to teachers at staff meeting. February 2 February 12th - time frame to complete survey in classrooms ...m E. Mead brought up a few topics to consider for the future: 1. DESE school report card. An email blast was sent to parents and the link is on the school website. Results could be reviewed and discussed. 2. What is the role of Community Service within a school and what impact does it have? A volunteer created a Playground plan. What does this plan look like? What impact does it have on the social /emotional climate of the school? We need to look at students with differences. What are their experiences at Harrington Schoo All students need to understand differences. Topics Plans for upcoming months: 1. February: initial highlights of student survey results and start discussion about inclusion 2. March: continue discussion about student survey results and continue conversation about inclusion /student differences .
