Minutes
The March 11, 2015 minutes were reviewed. Discussion followed about modifications. Upon motion
duly made and seconded, the March 11, 2015 minutes were approved as amended, with one
abstention.
Honoring Elsa Sullivan
Christina presented the two sets of checks from the two groups of Elsa's friends for the two trees
bought in her honor. Thanks to Christina's energy and outreach these trees in Antony Park will be
dedicated to Elsa. Fred will draft a letter to the editor of the Lexington Minuteman describing Elsa's
relationship with Antony and the Symphony, leading to the acquisition of these two trees as a testament
to her beloved place in so many hearts.
Notice of the April 16th service for Elsa will be sent out to the Constant Contact list. Consideration is also
being given to using the Lexington- Antony Sister Cities Facebook page to post information and photos
about Elsa.
Financial Report
There were no changes to the Treasurer's Report since the last meeting.
Antony Park
No progress to report at present. DPW is currently working on preparations for Patriots'
Day. Expectation is that work on the park will resume after Patriots' Day. Discussion ensued about
showing the "Evolution of Antony Park" through sequenced photos. There was discussion about a
realistic figure to use as a fundraising goal for 2015. Some thought we should raise the goal
now. Others wanted to wait for more facts to back up changing the goal. There are differences of
philosophy about fundraising for projects and consideration will continue at the next meeting.
If a letter regarding donations is to be sent out, showing progress is important. Figures are needed to
stipulate money already raised, as well as money needed for Phase II and Phase III. What is needed
from now going forward to the last art piece? Additional comments were made relating to all projects
involving landscaping.
Programs
a) La Musique en Fete 5/30 - -- Marie - Tristan is organizing the event, from noon to 4 PM at the
Fairgrounds. We will need volunteers to man the Lexington- Antony Sister City table.
b) Community Picnic at the park 5/31 -- -This is a Revolutionary Revelry activity at Tower
Park. Antony Group is invited to take part. Nothing was agreed as to our "doing something"
on 5/31, but suggestion was made that a temporary sign of some sort was needed at the Park
to attract attention and provide explanation regarding the ongoing construction of Antony
Park.
c) Other programs - -- Voyages en Francophonie took place on March 14th at Clarke
School. Thanks to Marie - Tristan and all who helped it was very successful. There were new
vendors this year, and lots of appreciative feedback. The 2016 Voyages is scheduled for
March 12th at the high school, with set -up on the 11tH
Further discussion touched on: options for future catering for some of our events, such as the
Senegalese restaurant enjoyed at Voyages; whether to keep Diners Amicaux as a possibility for
fundraising (return to this at next meeting); a grand opening/ social event/ dedication for Antony
Park ? ? - -- In 2015? - -- before winter?
Tony submitted a sheet with items for discussion, requesting the topics be placed on the agenda of the
next meeting.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, April 30th.
Respectfully submitted, Maureen Poole
