Minutes of the Selectmen's Tax Deferral and Exemption Study Committee
March 14, 2007

There was a discussion of the recently passed C .

value cal all Class otle pa��el�. Adoption would require a vote of the town at an election. The
present administration is thinking about expanding circuit breaker eligibility. John felt 41 C1/2
would not be good for Lexington as presently written and we should wait to see what the state
does about the circuit breaker.
The committee is to make a recommendation to the Selectmen on Ben Cohen's article on March
19. After a discussion it was voted to support the article with the following conditions:
1. That the minimum age remain,atbe 65.
2. That the income test be tied to the CPA income test.
3. That the Selectmen consider some sort of phase-in if the Finance Director determines
that it might have an adverse impact on town finances in the early years.
There was a discussion of how to obtain the names of fuel assistance patrons so they can be
notified of the availability of the water.alld,,sewel discount. Further investigation is needed.

Pat Costello was elected co-chair of the Committee.
Next meeting is April 4 at 4:15 at the Senior Center.
