There was a discussion of the Selectmen's substitute motion under Ben Cohen's Article 23. The
motion allows the town, by vote of town meeting with the approval of the Selectmen, to lower
the minimum age and increase the gross receipts qualifying amount under Clause 41A, but
allows the town to condition lowering the age limit on disability or other hardship. The
committee voted to support this motion and authorize Vicki to make the presentation to town
meting if requested.
There was more discussion on how to get information on senior tax breaks to the community.
There was consensus that the most effective way is by including the information in the tax bill.
Lauren agreed to work toward getting something in the next tax bill. Bill agreed to contact the
interfaith council to let them know our brochure is available for seniors and ask advic as to how
to get this to the congregations.
