Tfi�'hereas: parks and recreation is an integral pa.rt of communit�es throughout this cauntry,
includi.r�.�the Town of Lexirigton,Massachusetts;and
Whereas: parks and recreation promotes health and wellness, improving the physieal and
menta�health of people who live near paxks; and
Whereas: parks and recreation encourages physical activities by prov�ding space for popular
sparts,hiking trails, swimming pool and mariy other activities designed to promote
active lifestyle; and
Whereas: parks and recreation is a leading provider of healthy meals, nufirition services and
education; ar�d
Whereas: par�s and recreation programming and education activities, such as out-of-school
txme programming, youth sparts and environmental educat�on, are critical to
c�ildhood development; and
Whereas: parks and recreation increases a commu.nity's ecanomic prosperity through increased
property values, expansion of the local tax base, increased tourxsm, the attraction and
retention of busiriesses, and crime reduction; and
Njhereas: parks and recreation is fundamentai to the environmental well-being of our commun.i.ty;
and
T�Yhereas: parks and recreat�o�.�s essential and adaptable infrastructure that makes aur comrnuriities
res�lient in the face of natural d.isasters and climate change; and
Whereas: our parks and natural recreatior�areas ensure the ecological beauty of our cornmunity
and provide a place for children and adults ta connect with r�ature and recreate
outdoars; and
Whereas: the U.S.House of Representatives has designated Jul�as Park and Recreation
Month;and
Whereas: the Tav�m of Lexir�gto�., Massachusetts recognized the bene�ts derived fram parks
and recreation resources.
