Town of Lexington Appropriation Committee (AC)
April 3, 2023
Place and Time: Robbins Room – Cary Memorial Building, 1605 Massachusetts Ave.;
7:00p.m.–7:30 p.m.
Members Present: Glenn Parker, Chair; Sanjay Padaki, Vice-Chair; Anil Ahuja; John Bartenstein;
Alan Levine, Secretary; Eric Michelson; Sean Osborne; Lily Manhua Yan; Carolyn Kosnoff, Assis-
tant Town Manager, Finance (non-voting, ex officio)
Members Absent: None
Other Attendees: None
At 7:05 p.m. Mr. Parker called the meeting to order.
Announcements and Liaison Reports
Mr. Michelson reported on a meeting with representatives from communities in the Minuteman Re-
gional High School (MRHS) district. The administration of MRHS proposed inviting new commu-
nities to join the school district, which they hoped would make it easier to fund construction on an
additional school building that would increase the enrollment capacity of the school. Members were
opposed to the proposal, in part due to the current waiting list for students applying to attend
MRHS, and because current members felt new members would not contribute enough to reduce the
debt service from the recent reconstruction of MRHS. Approval for new members requires the
unanimous approval of all current members. The MRHS administration stated they would take no
action on their proposal.
Updates on Financial Articles at the 2023 Annual Town Meeting
Ms. Kosnoff stated that a new estimate for the cost of renovations at the Munroe Center for the Arts
under Article 10(b) exceeded the appropriation requested in the motion. Town staff have indicated
that they will attempt to lower the cost through value engineering in order to stay within the appro-
priation.
Minutes of Prior Meetings
Minutes from the Committee meeting on March 9, March 20, March 27, and March 29 were ap-
proved by a vote of 8-0.
Minutes for the meeting of March 16 are currently outstanding.
Future Meetings
Agendas will be posted for 7:00PM on Monday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 12. These meetings
will be cancelled if there is no business for the Committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
