To either of the Constables of the Town of Lexington, in said
County, Greeting:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts , you are directed
to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Lexington, qualified to
vote in elections and in town affairs to meet in the Town Hall in
said Lexington, on
hONDAT, THE EIX.Th LAY OF ! ARCH, A. L. , 1922
at seven o ' clock A. M. ,- then and there to act on the following
articles
Art. 1. To choose by ballot the following town officers: One Town
Clerk for the term of one year , One Selectman for the term of one
year; One Selectman for the term of two years; One Selectman for the
term of three years , one Town Treasurer for the term of one year,
one Collector of Taxes for the term of one year; one Cemetery
Commissioner for the term of three years , one member of the School
Committee for the term of three years , two Constables for the term
of one year, one Moderator for the term of one year, two members
of the Planning Board for the term of three years , one Trustee of
Public Trusts for the term of four years ( to fill a vacancy) one
Trustee of Public 'Trusts for the term of six years.
Art. 2. To see if the Town will vote for or against granting
licenses for the sale of non-intoxicating beverages , in answer to
the question: "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of non-intoxi-
cating beverages in this town.?"
The election officers will receive votes under Articles 1 and
2, on the official ballot prepared by the 'Town, Clerk.
The polls will be open as soon as possible after the organ_,
ization of the meeting and may be kept open until five P . Y. In
compliance with Article III of the By-Laws as amended January 29 ,
1900, business under the following Articles will be transacted at
an adjourned meeting to be held Monday evening, March 5d, 1922,
unless the adjourned meeting shall by unanimous vote, be ordered
for some other specified time.
Art. 3. To receive the report of any Board of Town Officers or of
any Committee of the town for action thereon, and to appoint other
Committees.
Art. 4. To see if the Town will make an appropriation for the proper
observance of Memorial Day, to be expended under the direction of
Post 119 , Grand Army of the Republic .
Art. 5. To provide for the support of the Public Schools the ensuing
year, and grant money for the same.
Art. 6o To provide for the support of the poor at the Almshouse the
ensuing year , and grant money for the same .
Art. 7 . To provide for the support of the Outside Poor the ensuing
year, and grant money for the same .
Art. 8. To provide for the support of the Highways the ensuing year ,
and grant money for the same.
Art. 9. To provide for the support of the Street Lights the ensuing
year , and grant money for the same .
Art. 10. To provide 'for the support of the Fire Department the ensuing
year, and grant money for the same.
Art. 11. To sae if the town will make an appropriation to defray the
expenses incurred as a result of the damage to the fire alarm system
caused by the ice storm of November, 1921.
Art. 12. To see if the Town will make an appropriation to construct
sidewalks with concrete or other material where the abuttors will pay
one-half the expense thereof.
Art. 13. To see if the Town will make the usual appropriations for
Town expenses the ensuing year , not specified in other articles ,
or act in any manner relating thereto.
Art. 14 . To see if the Town will make an appropriation for the
suppression of Gypsy and Brown Tail Moths in accordance with
Chap. 132, General Laws - st. _» _.n"x ,- , or act in any
manner relating thereto .
Art. 15. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for
the use of the finance Committee, or take any action relating
thereto.
Art. 16 . To provide for the support of the Public Parks the
ensuing year, and grant money for the same, or act in any manner
relating thereto.
Art. 17. To see if the Town will make an appropriation to provide
funds for the payment of pensions to retired town veterans under
Laws ,
Chap . 32, Sect. 52-55 ,General/ or act in any manner relating thereto .
Art. 18 . To see if the Town will make an appropriation for the
maintenance of the Town Engineer' s iJepartment, or act in any
manner relating thereto .
art. 19 . To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and assess
an amount of money to be used as a Reserve Fund, as provided by
Jaws ,
Chapter 40 , Uec.6 ,General/ or take any action relating thereto .
Art, 20. To see if the Town will make an appropriation for the
salary and expenses of the Milk Inspector, or act in any manner
relating thereto.
Art. 21 To see if the Town will make an appropriation for the
salary of the Plumbing Inspector , or act in any manner relating
thereto .
Art. 22. To see if the Town will make an appropriation for the
salaries of the Inspectors of Slaughtering, or act in any manner
relating thereto.
Art. 23. To see if the Town will appropriate funds for the payment
