To either of the Constable; of the town. of Lexington, in said County, Greeting: In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify the inhabitants of the 2orn of Lexington, qualified to vote in elections and in tom. affairs , to meet in the Town. Hall in said Lexington, ON MONDAY, THE SIXTH DAY 02 :•[r' OH, A. D. 1916. at seven o ' clock A. M. . then and there to act on the followinp. articles: • Art. 1 . To choose by ballot the following torn officers - One Town. Clerk for the term of one year ; three Selectmen for the term of one year; three Overseers of the Poor for the term of one year, three Surveyors of the Highways for the term of one year ; one Assessor for the term of three years ; one Town _Treasu- er for the term of one year; one Collector of Taxes for the term of one year ; one Auditor for the term of one year ; one plater and sewer Commissioner for the term of three years ; one member of the Cemetery Committee for the term of three years ; one member of the School Committee for the term of three years , one member of the Board of Health for the term of three years ; one Park Commissioner for the term of three years ; one Park Commissioner for the term of one year ; one Trustee of Public Trusts for the term of six years ; one Tree ,Warden for the term of one year ; two Constables for the term of one year; one Moderator for the term of one year. Art. 2. To see if the Town will vote for or against granting licenses for the sale of intoxicating liquors , in answer to the question "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town?"' The election officers will receive votes under Articles 1 and 2 on the official ballot prepared by the Tovm Clerk. The polls ill be opened as soon as possible after the organ- ization of the meeting and will be kept open until five P . In compliance with Article III of the By-Laws as amended January 29 , 1900, business under the following articles will be transacted at an adjourned meeting to be held Monday evening, March Y , 1916, . unless the adjourned meetinc, shall by unanimous vote, be ordered for some other specified time . Art. 3. To receive the report of any Hoard of Town Officers or of any Committee of the Town for action thereon, and to appoint other Coniid ttee s. Art. A. To choose such Town Officers as are required by law and. are usually chosen by nomination. • Art. 5 . To see if the Town will make an appropriation for the proper observance of Memorial Day, to be expended under the direction of Post 119, Grand Army of the Republic. • Art. 6. To provide for the support of the Public Schools the ensuing year, and grant money for the same. Art. 7 . To provide for the support of the Poor at the Alms House the ensuing year, and grant money for the same . Art . 8 . To provide for the support of the Outside Poor the ensuinc year, and grant money for the same . . Art. 3. To provide for the support of the Highways the ensuin^ year, 7.nd grant money for the same . - Art. 10. To provide for the support of the Street lights the ensu- ing year, and grant money for the same . Art. 11 . To provide for the support of the Eire -epartment the ensuing year, and grant money for the same . usual Art. 12. To see if the town will make the,appropriations for town expenses the ensuing year, not specified in other articles, or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 13 . To see if the Tow-n will instruct the Selectmen to improve the condition of the Town Hall grounds, and make an appropriation for this purpose , or act in any manner relating thereto. r Art. 14. To see if the Torn will make an appropriation to construct sidewalks with concrete or other matcrials where the abutters Trill pay one-half the expense thereof . Art. 15 . To see if the town will make an appropriation sufficient to meet the expense of placing new insurance and renewals for the ensuing year. or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 16 . To see if the 'noun will make an appropriation for the suppress- ion of Gypsy and Brown Tail Moths in accordance with Chap . 381 , Acts of 1905 and amendments thereto. or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 17 . To see if the town will appropriate a sum of money for the use of the Finance Committee , or take any action relating thereto . Art . 1P . To take such action as may be deemed best by the Town in re- lation to the removal of electric wires , now supported by poles Situated in or along the side of public streets. , and the placing of such wires under-ground ; and to pass any vote or votes , adopt any by-law or give any instructions appropriate to accomplish or facilitate the underground- ing of such wires . Art. 19 . To provide for the support of the Public Parks for the ensuing year and grant money for the same. or act in any manner relating thereto . Art. 20 . To see if the Towyn will make further appropriations of money for the suppression of insects , or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 21 . To see if the Town will accept and allow an altering and widening of the Town way known as Revere Street, made by the Selectmen by an order dated January 19, 1916. Said order, which shows also the boundaries and measurements of the street as altered and widened, and a plan therein referred to , are on file in the office of the Town Clerk. Art. 22. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate money to widen and deepen the brooks in the Town so as to obtain better surface drainage the same to be expended by the Water and Sewer Commissioners , or take any other action relating thereto. • Art. 23 . To appropriate money for the use of the Water Department, and vote to issue Bonds or Notes therefor, or otherwise determine the method of raising the money so appropriated, and to take any other or further action relative thereto as may be deemed best. Art. 24. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ( '+;500) for the care of the Cemeteries for the ensuing year, or take any action relating thereto . Art. 25 . To receive the report of the committee appointed to prepare and present a new code of by-le:e-s to the to-:m, and take action thereon. Art. 26 . To see what action the town will take to raise and appro- priate $350 for the George Washington Memorial Building, Washington D. C. Art. 27 . To see if the Town will accept a road running westerly from Highland Avenue at its ,unction with Bloomfield Street to Highland Avenue near - itt junction with Winthrop Road, or act in any msnner relating thereto. Plans showing proposed layout may be seen at the office of the Town Clerk. Art. 28. To see if the town will authorize the surveyors of Highways to widen the easterly end of Vine Rrook Road, from forty feet to sixty feet, provided it is done without expenee to the town, or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 29 . To see if the To-r will authorize their Treasurer , under the direction of the Selectmen, to borrow money for any necessary purposes, in anticipation of revenue for the current year, the same to be repaid directly from the proceeds of said revenue, or act in any manner relating thereto. Art . 30. Td see if the Town will vote to accept Sections 21 to 25 both inclusive of Chapter 78 of the Revised laws and all acts in amendment thereof and in addition thereto providing for the election of a Board of Cemetery Commissioners and the care and management of the public burial grounds of the Town, or act in any manner relating thereto. r Art. 31. To see if the torn will accept Chapter 447 of the Acts of 1912 relative to the retirement of Civil War Veterans , er act in any manner relating thereto . Art. 32. To receive the report of the committee appointed to consider the matter of a new cemetery, and take action thereon. Art. 33. To see if the town will authorize the Selectmen to establish building lines as recommended in their annual report, and make an appropriation for this purpose, or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 34. To see if the Town will vote to change the length of term of office of the members of the Board of Selectmen and of the members of the Board of Overseers of the Poor from the term of one year , as at present , to the term of three years, by providing that at the annual meeting for the election of Town Officers , to be held in March 1917 , the Town shall elect one member of eachof said Boards for the term of one year, one member of each of said Boards for the term of two years , and one member of each of said Boards for the term of three years , and that thereafter at each annual meeting for the election of Town Officers , the Town shall elect one member of each of said Boards for the term of three years , as provided by law, or act in any manner relating thereto . Art. 35 . To see if the '.'own will vote to elect at the annual election of Town officers to be held in March 1917, three Road Commissioners , one of whom shall serve for the term of one year, one for the term of two years and one for the term of three years, and that at each annual meeting for the election of Town officers thereafter , the Town shall elect one Road Commissioner for the term of three veers , and that at the meeting for the election of Town officers to he held in March, 1917, and thereafter, the Town shall elect no Surveyors of Highways , or act in any manner relating thereto . r Art. 36 . To see if the Town will instruct the Board of 'Water and Sewer Commissioners to extend the six inch water main from its present terminus on Cliff Avenue further on said avenue and on Cummins , Wilson, Melrose . Arcadia and Rawson Avenues or on any of them, and appropriate and assess money for this pur7ose , or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 37 . To see if the Town will adopt a By-Law regulating and restricting the deposit of ashes,rubbish and other waste material so that the same may not be left exposed to view with— in a specified distance from a public street ; and to take any other or further action. by the adoption of a By-Law or other-rise , calculated to prevent the deposit and accumulation of waste material in places where it tends to interfere with the comfort or well being of the inhabitants. Hereof, fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk on or before the time of said meeting.
