HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-01-04-COA-min RECEIVED 2023 01 Feb, 4��14 prn Town of Lexington Council of Aging Board Meeting Wednesday January 4th, 2023 TOWN 'ERK' Zoom Video Conference LEXINGTON MA PRESENT: Betty Borghesani, John Zhao, Sandra Shaw, Sue Rockwell, Julie Barker, Jyostsna Kakullavarapu, Ellen Cameron STAFF: Melissa Interess, Michelle Kelleher, Mark Sandeen John called the meeting via zoom to order at 2:34pm, took attendance. PUBLIC COMMENTS: none REVIEW AND APPROVAL of December minutes NEW BUSINESS: Sandra brought up the question about meeting in person vs zoom. ordering how many people would prefer in person vs online. Hybrid was also brought up as a possibility. The Governor extended zoom meetings till March. Discussion was pros and cons in person vs online. Vote was taken 6 yes, 1 no vote for hybrid meeting- using the owl. For Hybrid chair and quorum must be in room, in person Betty brought up a joint FCOA meeting with the COA and we hope it will be April or May. John mentioned the Housing Partnership Board is still looking for a full board and voting board member from the COA. If interested, please contact John. AGE FRIENDLY: Melissa,John, Betty and Ellen met with the Town Council- Mina. Betty,John and Ellen : we were advised that we can draw up a list of possible resources and be careful with our wording and how we draw up the list. We need another Age Friendly meeting to really look into our next steps. We will need to update the list in a time frame that we will determine. We need to be careful how to gather the list, of vendors ( ie plumber, handyman etc) how to update and how often. We will bring this to the COA Board for approval and of course the Town Council. We will also consult with Melissa and Michelle on this process and the next steps. STAFF REPORTS: Melissa- no current updates. Michelle: Senior Services Coordinator job posted. Chinese New Year Lunch and entertainment on January 191h. Lauren (intern) will have a 3-week series art of r Mental Health at the end of January. LIAISON REPORTS: Minuteman Senior Services no update Transportation Committee- no update FCOA- Betty Borghesani-sent out fundraising requests in December. Okay response but down from previous years. Looking into a Tea Celebration for FCOA 50 years, with OWLL, Lifetime, COA etc. Looking for grants. Disability Commission- no update Recreation Committee- no update Lexington Housing Authority- Sue Rockwell- Countryside is finishing up with Bathroom and doors renovation. Vinebrook renovations start in March but having challenges with residences reluctant to being relocated, and the challenges that faces. Housing Authority had two meetings, now meeting 1;1 with residences and have interpreters' student working with maintenance. LHA working on Rent policy. Vision for Lexington-no update Lexington Housing Authority- no update Mental Health Task Force- no update Lexington Center Committee- no update Strategic Equity Advisory Team- meets in two weeks.
