Estabrook School Site Council Minutes

In attendance: Gerardo Martinez, Tom Grasso, Christina Gavin, David Boyer, Alison Burke,
Hatim Zariwala
Discussed Proposed Budget
• Downloadable version available
• Enrollment trends: projected 25 classrooms
o Kindergarten enrollment is TBD, 4 sections anticipated
• There are emergency funds available when extra sections are required. Principals
submit "supplemental request" to superintendent.
• Special Education Funds: we have caseloads that allowed us to hire another teacher last
year
• Budget will be voted on before final version is released.
• We have the ILP program at Estabrook, which services students with ASD.
o Currently have K and 1- these students will move to 1 and 2 next year
o We will receive a new K cohort next year
■ Currently we have 3 incoming students from LCP
o New SSI assistants for new cohort next year
• We will have a behavior specialist/interventionist dedicated to Estabrook .5 next year
• We work with the Spec Ed dept to increase services as needed
• Supply money: based on enrollment#, then attaches a dollar amount per student
o $75,847 up 2.6% from FY2022 budget
o Using this as much as possible, we give back to the town what we don't use
o Paper, supplies, ink cartridges, books, etc
o We don't ask parents to give supplies
• Additional funds
o Morning Club
o Estabrook Gift fund
o Community Grant through PTO
• No severe cuts this year
• Approved for Morning Club for next year
• Question: will fourth grade still have five sections next year?Yes, based on current
numbers.
Discussed Innovation Plan Update
• Goal 1: phonics program implementation. Currently at K,1 and 2. On target.
• Goal 2: Math curriculum grades 3-5. On target.
• Goal 3: DEI lessons. District led, on pause. Based on the Learning for Justice
Standards. Focus on Identity for Phase 1 of implementation.
• Redlining Success Goal:
• Student Success Team Goal: have updated our processes and working to
streamline practices for elementary schools.
• PBIS: creating a culture of accentuating the positive. Estabee values.
• Cultivating Student Agency and Leadership: some progress, still working on this
• School Leaders Book Group for UDL:TBD
• Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): In early stages.
Discussed the following
• Elementary World Language - February 10, superintendent will visit to provide staff with
an update.
• NECC is presenting at Estabrook this year- disability awareness for ASD
• We will work on new schedule for next year once we know the plan for World Language.
General Questions
• School lunches: will it be free next year? Too soon to know. We'd hear from the
district/state about this.
