TOWN OF LEXINGTON

To any of the Constables of the Town of Lexington, in said County,
Greeting:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed
to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Lexington qualified to vote in
elections and in Town affairs to meet in Cary Memorial Hall, in said
Town on Monday, the eleventh day of May, 1987 at 8 :00 P.M. , at which
time and place the following articles are to be acted upon and determined
exclusively by the Town Meeting Members in accordance with Chapter 215 of
the Acts of 1929, as amended, and subiect to the referendum provided for
by Section eight of said Chapter, as amended.
ARTICLE 1. To receive the reports of any board of Town Officers or
of any committee of the Town.
LEXINGTON HOUSING CONVERSION AND EVICTION BY-LAW
ARTICLE 2. To see if the Town will amend its By-laws to adopt a
condominium conversion by-law pursuant to the authority of ch. 527 of
the Acts of 1983 , and all other applicable laws as set forth in a
document entitled, "LEXINGTON HOUSING CONVERSION AND EVICTION BY-LAW" ,
which is on file and available for inspection in the office of the
Town Clerk. a
The by-law will provide for the creation of a Condominium Conversion
Board of five citizens of the town. One member shall be from each of the
following: Planning Board, LexHAB, and Lexington Housing Authority. The
other two members shall be citizens of the Town.
The by-law will further provide that no condominium conversion shall
takeplace, unless a license therefore has been obtained from the Board.
The Board may not withhold a license . but may require conditions
including the dedication of up to 20% of the units for low and moderate
income persons , and the application of the protections for the elderly,
low and moderate income persons and handicapped of ch. 527 of the Acts
of 1983 to ALL TENANTS affected by the conversion.
The By-law regulates evictions in connection with condominium con-
versions, allowing for periods of up to five years before a tenant can
actually be evicted.
It further empowers the Board to apply to ALL TENANTS the protection
of SECTION 4 (e) , ch. 527 of the Acts of 1983 for the time in which they
are protected from eviction. It provides other protections for tenants;
or act in any other manner in relation thereto.

before the time of said meeting as provided in the By-Laws of the Town.
Hereof fail not, and make due return on this warrant, with your
doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, on or before the time of said
meeting.

I have served the foregoing warrant by posting a
printed copy thereof in the Town Office Building and in a
public place in each of the precincts of the Town and also
by sending by mail , postage prepaid, a printed copy of such
warrant addressed to each dwelling house and to each dwell-
ing unit in multiple dwelling houses , apartment buildings ,
or other buildings in the Town l8 days before the time of

I , this day notified the voters of Lexington of the
coming Special Town Meeting to be held on the eleventh day
of May, 1987. I notified 10 ,101 inhabitants of the Town of
Lexington qualified to vote in elections by mailing them a
true attested copy of the Warrant on April 23, 1987 , 18
days before the time of said meeting.
I have also posted a true and attested copy of this
Warrant for the Special Town Meeting in the following public
places , plus one at the Town Office Building :
