Lex250
Suzie Barry, Chair of Lex250, announced that her committee has purchased and installed a large
screen in the lower level of the Visitors Center. The M&M Committee is welcome to show
certain videos there, as we develop our monument database. Lex250 is well underway in initial
planning, including discussions of a possible new memorial.
Dedication of Lafayette Marker: George Gamota reported that the Lafayette Marker, which
was approved and recommended by this committee on December 2, 2021 and approved by the
Select Board soon after, was officially dedicated on September 11, 2022 at a ceremony
sponsored by the Lexington Historical Society. Plans are also being made for the 200-year
anniversary of Lafayette's visit to Lexington in 2024.
Database Progress: Chuck, Leslie and Danjun reported on a training session delivered by Judy
Baldasaro, Town GIS Administrator. Judy walked participants through the process of receiving
an electronic submission of a new monument, verifying the data, and entering it into our
database. Judy did a great job, and the training was very helpful.
Policies and Procedures Manual: The Committee reviewed suggestions for Policies &
Procedures Draft 7 submitted by Leslie Masson and completed the review through the end of
page 2, adopting her suggestions.
LexDoingGood: The Community Endowment of Lexington (CEL) is hosting an exposition for
its grant recipients at the Community Center on Saturday, October 22. The public is invited to
visit with these various groups who do good works for the community, get to know more about
their work, and possibly to volunteer with them. The Monuments and Memorials Committee
will participate. Linda asked for volunteers to work on promotional items and to attend the
event. Avram, Leslie, George, and Danjun volunteered.
The next meeting will be held on November 3, 2022.
Upon motion made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned by roll call vote at 9:16 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
George Gamota, Member
