Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middlesex , ss .
To either of the Constables of the Town of Lexington, in said County,
Greeting:
In the name of the Commonwealth you are hereby required to notify and
warn the inhabitants of said Town who are qualified to vote in Elections to
meet in their respective voting places in said Town,
PRECINCT ONE, ADAMS SCHOOL; PRECINCT TWO, EAST LEXINGTON FIRE STATION;
PRECINCT THREE, CARY MEMORIAL BUILDING; PRECINCT FOUR, SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL;
PRECINCT FIVE, CENTRAL FIRE STATION; PRECINCT SIX, MARIA HASTINGS SCHOOL on
TUESDAY, THE FOURTH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1958
at 7:00 o' clock A . M. to cast their ballots for the following officers :
Senator in Congress; Governor; Lieutenant Governor;
Secretary; Treasurer; Auditor; Attorney General;
Representative in Congress; Councillor; Senator; Two
Representatives in General Court; District Attorney,
Clerk of Courts; Register of Deeds; County Commissioner.

And to take action on the following questions:
QUESTION NO. 1
LAW PROPOSED BY INITIATIVE PETITION
Do you approve of a law summarized below which was disapproved
in the House of Representatives by a vote of 73 in the affirmative YES
and 132 in the negative and was approved in the Senate by a vote NO
of 21 in the affirmative and 17 in the negative?
Summary
The proposed measure provides that every former public employee ,
other than a judge , who is pensioned or retired for disability, shall
report to his retirement authority, annually, his earnings from gainful
occupation during the preceding year; and that, if such earnings, plus
the pension, exceed the regular compensation of the position formerly
held, the pensioner shall refund that portion of his pension equal to
such excess or the entire pension if such excess is greater than the
pension. A refund, if required, shall not include any part of a pension
represented by salary deductions from or special purchase by the former
employee . The requirement of a refund is not applicable to income
received in or prior to 1958 .

beverages, wines and all other alcoholic beverages) ?
B. Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale YES
therein of wines and malt beverages (wines and beer, ale and NO
all other malt beverages) ?
C . Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale YES
therein of all alcoholic beverages in packages, so called, NO
not to be drunk on the premises?

A . Shall the pari-mutuel system of betting on licensed
horse races be permitted in this county? YES

B. Shall the pari-mutuel system of betting on licensed
dog races be permitted in this county?

QUESTION OF PUBLIC POLICY
UNDER GENERAL LAWS
(Tercentenary Edition)
Chapter 53, Section 19
Shall the Representative from this District be instructed
to vote to establish an exclusively state-conducted lottery
once a year, on or about July 4th, to be known as the YES
"Massachusetts Sweepstakes Drawing" , with one-half of the NO
income to be given as cash prizes and the other one-half Used to
cut real estate taxes?
The polls will be open at 7:00 A .M. and will remain open until 8:00 P.M.
And you are directed to serve this Warrant seven days at least before the
time of said election as provided in the By-laws of the Town.
Hereof fail not, and make due return on this Warrant, with your doings
thereon, to the Town Clerk on or before the time of said election.
Given under our hands at Lexington, this fiftee h day of October,

To Town Clerk October ;?-3 , 1958
I have served the foregoing Warrant by posting a printed copy
thereof in five (5) public places in the Town and also by sending
by mail, postage prepaid, a printed copy of such Warrant addressed
to every registered voter of the Town at his last residence, as
appears from the records of the Board of Registrars, /0 days
before the time of said election.
