Vision for Lexington Committee Meeting
September 30, 2022

The meeting was called to order: 7:50am
The Remote Meeting Script was read by Ms. Margaret Coppe.
Minutes:
No Minutes were approved. Minutes from 12/17/21, 1/28/22, 2/25/22, 3/25/22, 4/29/22,
5/27/22, and 7/29/22 were scheduled to be revised and corrected, and the 9/9/22 minutes were
scheduled to be reviewed for approval for October 28.

Meeting Highlights:
VFL Website and Report on Emails
Daniel Joyner confirmed that he has access to the email account for the VFL Committee. There were no
emails from residents to report. Mark Manasas noted that a working group would be helpful for
developing the additions needed on the VFL Committee webpage.
Membership Review
Margaret Coppe sought clarity from Mark Sandeen on the process of approving new applicants for
committee membership. Mark Sandeen noted that the Select Board Office Staff reviews the applications
quarterly for the Select Board to confirm new volunteers.

Mark Manasas reported the need for volunteers to run a VFL Committee table at the event.
Town-wide Survey Discussion
Presentations will be made regarding the Town-wide Survey on:
October 17 at 6:30pm – Select Board, Planning Board, School Committee Joint Meeting – Remote
November 4 at 9:30am – Lexington Community Center Room 243 – In-person
November 15 at 7:30pm – Diamond Middle School – Hybrid
Mark Manasas noted that revisions were made based on previous committee discussions to better reflect
the quantity of respondents’ answers.
Dan Krupka sought clarity on how the topics of affordable housing and voter participation were reflected
in the report. Dan Krupka also highlighted the discrepancy between the demographic composition of the
Town of Lexington and the levels of participation of those demographics in the survey.
Margaret Coppe highlighted that the survey and the report do not construe explicit recommendations
over Town operations and Marian Cohen confirmed.
Mark Manasas and Andrew Dixon noted that physical mailers and postcards were helpful in increasing
the response rate.
Dan Krupka suggested a document be formulated regarding the lessons learned from the Town-wide
Survey process to inform future processes.
The Town-wide Survey Report was accepted by the VFL Committee unanimously and will be sent to the
Select Board, Planning Board, and School Committee for their Joint Meeting with enough time for review.
Update of Subcommittee on Voter Participation in Lexington
Margaret Coppe noted that the Subcommittee will be presenting an interview with the Town Clerk over
some possible voter participation strategies on October 14.
Discussion of Comprehensive Plan in relation to VFL Committee Charge
Robert Peters noted that Volume 1 of the Comprehensive Plan has been approved by the Planning Board
and is being made available on the Town’s website.
