Minutes May 22 , 1989
Present : PHillips , Hagelstein, Gilman
Also : Nancy Seasholes
April 27 minutes approved .
Gilman introduced Seasholes who was one who had helped Grady
on the Inventory and who had done work on the early research
for the old road at Brookhaven . Seasholes has visited the site
and indicated that some vestiges are still apparent at the
back of the site although much of the road has been obliterated
both by earlier activities and now by the Brookhaven construc-
tion.
Members discussed next steps and decided that a plaque similar
to the ones in the Historical society Walking tours would be
a good solution. Gilman will look into source etc . and Phillips
will work on wording. Concensus was that a simple map diagram
would be desirable as well as text .
Preservation Award wording submitted by Witthoft was agreed
upon. Gilman will check with Witthoft and/or DeBonte re spell-
ing of their names and their notice of award . Witthoft ' s sug-
gestion of 5"x7" bronze on walnut plaque agreed upon at a cost
of about $21 . Presentation at band concert accepted with date
dependent on plaque and DeBontes .
No word fr om Town Manager on new member, but his office was
reminded of next meeting date which was set for Monday June 19
at 7 : 30 PM.
