MINUTES
The minutes of February 8, 1979, were read and accepted.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER WORK ON TEE H_NCOCK SCHOOL
John Orcutt 's letter regarding the LHC 's recommendations for further
work on the Hancock School was signed by members of the Commission.
Specific recommendations regarding trim Paint color and concrete areas
were made. The letter will be sent to Robert Hutchinson, Town Manager,
with copies to Kirk Noyes and the Lexington Minuteman.
QUESTIONS RE THE PYNN HOUSE
Inforffation is till forthcoming re the Pynn House, 881 Massachusetts
Avenue, qualifying for National Refister Property. Tax Act Certification
Report and the Tax Reform Act of 1976 were discussed with reference to
Certification Rehabilitation in conjunction with the Pynn House. Sara
Chase responded to specific questions concerning wallpaper and paint.
RECO: IEND_ITIONS FOR IMPROVED HANDLING OF FUTURE 3HOOL SITES CONVERSIONS
The Commission reviewed Anne Grady 's draft letter regarding recommendations
for improved handling of future school sites conversions. Further
research will be done on details to be included in the letter.
COMMENTS ON THE CAMBRIDGE HISTORICAL COMMIS'S IONtS. PROPOSED LEGISLATION
Norma Bogen commented on the Cambridge Historical Commission's proposed
legislation, indicating a similarity to the Boston Landmarks Covnission.
Cambridge is proposing a regulatory body. Questions were raised as
to overregulation, and as concerns Lexington, as to the need for this
type of protection, and as to the Proper body to accotplish it.
Bc7,en will draft 2 resoonse letter to the C-mbridge Historical Commission
indicating that it is a philosophic approach which the LHC does not
consider necessary in Lexington, but which may have merit for Combridse.
The meeting was adjourned at 9 :45 a.m.
