It was agreed that the next step is to organize the inventory forms and assess how much remains to be done . Anne Grady will ask several people she knows .if they are interested in working. Sara Chase will ask Rosemary Booth. NATIONAL TRUST Ms . Chase read a letter from the National Trust for INTERN Historic Preservation stating that the LHC' s application for a summer intern has been turned down. The reason given was that the National Trust received many high quality applications and could only fund some of them. RIDGE II ' j... Anne Grady was asked by Joe Orfant of the Massachu- ESTATTES setts Historical Commission to help assess the impact of the proposed Ridge II estates on two existing dwellings of the land parcel. She was unable to get to the site of one of the dwellings, but passed on information about the other to Mr. Orfant. HANCOCK SCHOOL Sara Chase will receive from John Orcutt by Friday, January 12 a draft of recommendations for further work on the Hancock School. The question was raised as to whether the Commission should present a written evaluation of the success of the Hancock School project to the Selectmen or the School Sites Conversion Committee . Bebe Fallick described the Hancock Condominuims opening celebration. PROPOSED Anne Grady passed out copies of a law submitted LEGISLATION to the Massachusetts legislature by the Cambridge Historical Commission. The law would cover neighborhood conservation districts and landmark and landmark area designations . The LHC was asked to comment. BANDSTAND Plans and elevations of the bandstand proposed to be built by the Rotary Club on the grounds of the Buckman tavern were reviewed. Sara Chase will convey the Historical Commission's opinion of the project to the Historic District Commission at the hearing on January 10 . It was agreed that: 1 . An archeological survey of the site should be done . 2 . While we all like the spontaneity of open air concerts, we are not opposed to a bandstand either on the Green of on the Buckman tavern grounds. 3 . The currently proposed bandstand (30 ' in diameter and 33' in height) is out of scale with the historically important surroundings . 4. We would prefer a simpler design. We do not feel it necessary for the Town to erect a copy of a victorian design. MEETING DATES The dates for Historical Commission meetings through June were set as follows: February 8, March 8, April 12, May 10 , and June 14. The meeting was adjourned at 9.25 p.m. . Respectfully submitted, Anne Grady
