COMMUNITY Anne Grady reported LHC eligible for funds. Has re- DEVELOPMENT ceived inquiries from individual house owners. REHABILITATION Norma Bogen circulated Sudbury newspaper article on GRANTS same, pointed out application must originate with owner. Individual's income pertinent. Typical recent year appropriations per town: $150,000. Other needs and proposals, however, are equally eli- gible and the end dollars would likely be diluted by the time funds reached this committee for recommended dispersal. LHC should arrange discussion meeting with pertinent town agencies. Selectmen, Accessor, LHDC, etc. Suggest November 28, 29, or 30. Norma Bogen suggested walking tour following. EAST LEXINGTON Richard Morehouse reported on plans for expanding ex- RAILROAD STATION isting abutting Toyota agency. No apparent effect on Station. (Owner Dick Beaman later reported there are no immediate plans to raze structure.) ARCHITECTURAL Sara Chase reported on her attendance at Architectural PRESERVATION Preservation Techniques Society meeting. Attended TECHNIQUES lectures, etc. : Paint analysis SOCIETY Transfer of historic wall paintings CLEVELAND Visit to Oberlin College analysis lab MEETING Charles Peterson wrought iron craft Sara may be able to help with historic paint, mortar problems, e.g. Hancock School development. COMMITTEE Anne Grady suggested Dick Morehouse make a poster, (2?) PUBLICITY explaining difference between LHC, LHDC & LHS. Cary -2- Library. Anne Grady is invited to October 26, 1977 WBZ forum meeting (program?) with heads of various Lexington commissions, committees. HANCOCK SCHOOL Sara Chase reported on Hancock School housing propo- sal bidders. Three development firms have been selec- ted by the Town for presentation, apparently, of the 15%, so-called Schematic Design Phase of AIA Owner- Architect B141 contract on November 4. Dick Morehouse wondered about ethics of architects involved doing speculative work with neither contract nor remunera- tion. (Later called Town Manager Jeff Shaw and voiced same. ) (Anne Grady later announced meeting with Ted Monacelli group Monday October 31, 3:30 G 15 Town Hall.) Sara Chase inquired if committee thought Hancock mortar analysis should be undertaken at an estimated cost of $300.+. Dick Morehouse suggested not. Anne Grady will call National Trust on available services. Noted Town meeting December 5. LHC PROPOSED $600. BUDGET PUBLICATION Norma Bogen reported Preservation News article on possi- ble funds for publication. INVENTORY Betty Reinhardt reported that number of inventory workers is diminishing somewhat but added that two new members were aboard. Dick Morehouse submitted partially completed Six Moon Hill forms and photographs. Ideas from inventory workers: 1. Educational programs. 2. Walking tours. 3.
