Minutes
June 16, 1977 7:30 p.m.
The meeting of the Lexington Historical Commission held on
June 16, 1977, in the Town Office Building was called to
order by Chairperson, Anne Grady. Old members present
were Anne Grady, Elizabeth Reinhardt , and Sara Chase.

New member, Norma Bogen; was welcomed to the Commission.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Grady circulated the letter she ani Ms. Chase composed and
sent to Representative Genevra Counihan, stating the priorities
of the Lexington Historical Commission in the context of
regional planning.
After some dixussion of the need for completing the inventory
as soon as possible, the meeting adjourned to
to a program of visitip speakers and a television tape.

Phoebe HammAof the Concord Historical Commission spoke
eloquently about the process of saving an historic house in
Concord in spite of the house ' s location in conservation land.
The house now is not only saved, but alsorenovated, and
being rented to a young family.
Juliana Boyd of the Brookline Planning Department gave the
Commission copies of material pertaining to Brookline ' s
design review and sign control ordinances. She shared with
us the benefits and problems Brookline has had in trying to
restore and maintain some historic quality to the "Lain Street"
area of that suburb.
Debbie Winston, a student at Pits-r-,t4otc-College, showed the
video tape she made in Lexington in the Spring, which included
interviews with Anne Grady, Elizabeth Reinhardt, and Town
Manager Robert Hutchinson, and scenes of many of the historic
areas and houses in Lexington.
After the program, the Commission adjourned to Ms. Grady' s
house for informal discussion with the vidting speakers and
other guests.
