MEETING
Planning Board Office (due to a last minute change) October 6, 1976
Lexington Town Office Building 7 :30 P.M.
Voting Members Present: Chairman Elizabeth Reinhardt, Anne Grady,
Donna Brown, Sarah Chase.
Guests: None
The meeting was called to order at 8:10 due to a mixup of meeting rooms.
The chairman introduced the newest member appointed to the Commission by NEW
the Town Manager. MEMBER
A discussion concerning our interest in the future of the East Lexington
Railroad Station cendered on the present and future ownership. Mrs. Brown EAST LEX.
advised that the station is presently under agreement to be sold to the RAILROAD
owners of the Lexington Toyota Dealership. Mr. Brown is a member of that STATION
ownership and will keep the commission advised as to the progress being
made.
Inventory Status Report: The report has not as yet been proof read.. Area
4 is complete, In Area 5 there has been no architectural research dompleted
to date. The volunteers are still working in Area 6, as is Area 1. It is INVENTORY
expected some work will continue through the summer. Areas 2 and 3 are also
incomplete but have been working. It was suggested that perhaps more help
is needed to complete these areas.
Mrs. Brown will inquire of Mr. Joseph Rooney any information about the FrostALLEN ST.
house on Allen St.
Mrs. Reinhardt is planning a slide show for the public in mid-October. The
date and details will be forth coming. SLIDES
Mrs. Reinhardt announced her retirement as Chairman to remain a member of
the commission and assume other duties. Ann Grady was nominated to replace NEW
by Sarah Chase. Second by Mrs. Brown. The vote unanimous. CHAIRMAN
The Commission will make a request to the Town that Sarah Chase be sent to
the Philadelphia Architectural Historian meeting. We will request the amount REQUEST
of $305.49 or part thereof.
Mrs. Reinhardt submitted a copy of Guidelines for Town Appointed Committees. COMMITTEES
She will check to see if more copies are available. GUIDE
Mrs. Reinhardt will be sending for information on the Mill Brook area in
Arlington so we may see the relationship to Lexington. MILL BROOK

It was announced that the Growth Policy Committee will be holding a
meeting on Thursday, July 17th. This will be an informas meeting but GROWTH
any who can are urged to attend. Mrs. Reinhardt will attend and is POLICY
a member of this Committee. MEETING
The commission has recieved notice from the Mass. Historical Commission
that Simonds Tavern at 331 Bedford St. has been approved for National SIMONDS TAVERN
Register status. We will get a photo for publicity in the Minuteman.
It is decided to hold the publicity until the approval on the Green District
arrives. This should be shortly.
Mrs. Deutch will look into the legal aspects for acquiring facade easements FACADE
and report such information to us in the fall. It has been determined EASEMENTS
that the Mass. Historical Commission has funds available for this purpose.
Mr. Hilton at the Library has a drawing of the old Town Hall if we care
to see it.
It is felt by the Commission that it is important to have the East Lex- EAST
ington District proposed to the National Register as a District. We shall LEXINGTON
make a survey of the properties involved and the owners of them with the DISTRICT
thought of doing some publicity on East Lexington. Mrs. Grady will look
into the owners as far back as 1830.
