Voting members present : Donna Brown, Anne Grady, Richard Morehouse , Elizabeth Reinhardt, Thomas Taylor . Public participants : Mrs . R.J. Dexter 58 Hancock St . The meeting was brought to order at 7 : 35 P .M . Our guest was introduced to the members . Mrs . Reinhardt provided the agenda (attached) Mrs . Reinhardt reported that the inventory is progressing well . The East Lexington, Munroe District and the area around the Battle Green has been completed except for the pictures to be taken . Approximately one half of the Battle Green District remains to be done . In addition, the Hancock INVENTORY Street area has yet to be done . This work is still in pro- gress with the help of our volunteers . The question of the reproduction of forms for the Massachusetts Historical Commission and our files was discussed . Mrs . Brown will check with the Town Office to see what facilities FORMS are available to us . Mr. Morehouse provided us with costs for printing of stat- ionary and business cards . It was decided to eliminate having business cards printed and use our letterhead instead . The printing cost bids were from Concord Press , $35 . 00 for STATIONARY 1000 letterheads and $22 . 45 for envelopes . Barrett Press- $52 . 89 for letterheads and $13 . 65 for envelopes . Mrs . Brown will ask the Town Office about the possibility of ordering through the town before we make other arraingements . Memberships in the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Bay State Historical League and American Association of State and Local History were discussed . Since our budget is limitedMEMBERSHIPE it was decided to borrow from the library and members of the commission that now hold memberships , until some later date . Concern has been expressed to the commission by Mrs . George Morey about the condition of the Bowman Tavern . The possibility of finding matching funds and an application to the National TAVERN Register were discussed . Mrs . Reinhardt will talk with Mr . Stephen Snell at the Mass . Historical Commission for ideas as to what might be the best approach . A letter was recieved from the Norfolk Historical Commission asking for information concerning the Turner Family . It was voted to refer the letter to the Lexington Minutemen and the NORFOLK Lexington Historical Society where records are kept which may be of assistance . 2 . The letters have been sent to these two groups along with a copy of the letter from Norfolk . Mrs . Brown has also written to Norfolk to advise them of our action . Mrs . Grady will attend the Planning Board and Board of Appeals meetings to gather more information concerning the proposal for the Condominiums to be built on the property CONDOMINIUMS at the rear of 1039 Massachusetts Ave . , before we make a statement . The status of pending nominations to the National Register was discussed . Mrs . Reinhardt has talked with Judy Dobbs at the Mass . Historical Commission . The Hancock School application has been approved by the State and has been sent to Washington for approval . It was suggested we should send our letter of position . A vote was taken that we HANCOCK SCHOOL approve the action that Hancock School be placed on the National Register . Unanimous . It was later decided to take a vote again at our September 15 meeting , due to the fact that Mr . O ' Connell notified us that we had unknowingly locked the front door when we opened the building for our meeting . Mrs . Reinhardt will send members of the commission copies of the applications on the Mason House and others on the pending list so that we can better understand the significance of them before a vote is taken in support of their nomin- ation to National Register status . Mrs . Reinhardtwill send a letter to the Massachusetts Historical Commission asking PENDING that the Follen Church and Stone Building be considered NONINATIONS as a district rather than separately . It was also suggested that we consider asking for the same status be given to the homes around the Battle Green and in addition include the homes down Massachusetts Avenue as far as Forest Street . More research will be undertaken on this area . It was agreed that our next meeting date be Monday , September 15 , 1975 at 7 : 30 P .M . The place to be announced .
