They have performed numerous times with The Boston Pops and most recently at Symphony Hall with The President's Own Marine Corps Band. To offer this concert, free to the public,we are requesting: • The use of the Cary Memorial Building from 11 am until 4 pm on December 11, 2022 • Specifically the use of Baitin Hall for the actual concert, and • Estabrook Hall for the musicians to use for a changing room, and • The use of the piano on the stage and risers for the children's chorus to use for their part in the program, and • Other logistical needs that we can work out with the DPW in accordance with their rules and procedures. I apologize for the lateness of this request. The offering of a concert by MCV is something which carried over from a 2021 request by the MCV, morphed into a Patriots Day weekend event of 2022 discussed and tentatively approved at the 2022 Stakeholders meeting, then into the latest offer by MCV to provide a free holiday concert to celebrate their 40th anniversary and the relationship they have had with this town for most of their 40 years. While all of that was happening, our responsibility to request permission of the SB for this concert fell through the cracks. We believed this concert to be a benefit to the Lexington community in a number of ways. First the music. While most of the music is traditional holiday music associated with Christmas, the fifes and drums arrangements for this seasonal music are wonderful, and there are no religious overtones. When Keith Lockhardt first heard this music, he stated "we should add orchestra to this." And he did and included selections from MCV's holiday album in the Holiday Pops program for that year, with MCV performing. That was about 15 years ago. MCV is looking forward to sharing this wonderful music with a new generation of listeners and to doing so in Lexington. Beyond giving their wonderful music to the town, MCV wanted to include the town in their concert and has invited the Lexington Children's Chorus and the William Diamond Junior Corps to join them as special guests. All three groups have been working hard, rehearsing to provide Lexington with a wonderful concert. The Directors of the Children's Chorus have told us how excited the kids are to perform. Please tell us what we can do to expedite our request for approval from the Select Board for this event planned for December 11, 2022.
