What they are proposing is dangerous for cyclists, especially at Mill Street. He will have Select Board write a letter (hopefully before Monday 13th meeting or 27th June). LBAC review DRAFT. MassDOT is not widening road, just resurfacing - so they don’t need to accommodate cyclists. Battle Road Scenic Byway Committee is submitting a grant application – includes the Hancock Street bike crossing – They will look at the street and try to set targets In Arlington all of Mass Ave is 25 mph – they reduced the 30 mph In Lex there are 7 different speed limits 40 – 25 The grant application will try to set the target speed Application is due to MASS DOT and we will know in the fall Richard is asking SB to write a letter to MassDOT The next two Select Board meetings are June 13th and June 27th. Islands and cross walks to slow traffic BUT speed limit will be 40 mph – TOO HIGH!! LBAC will prepare a letter based on our review of the Rt2A project and submit it to the SB and Town Manager to urge them to write to MassDOT on this issue. Input from resident Tom Fortmann – he spoke up about how this is unacceptable Richard – widening is not as much of an issue as reducing the speed on Rt2a that’s the easier sell 1.4 miles is the length of the 2A repavement project 1/3 mile is in Lex Susan B - Planning Board looking at Comprehensive Plan - - https://www.lexingtonma.gov/planning-board/comprehensive-plan- advisory-committee Susan has submitted 8 pages of updates.
