HomeMy WebLinkAboutCenter Revitalization Committee - CRC - Charge, 1980.pdf • CENTER REVITALIZATION COMMITTEE Members: 9 Appointed by: Board of Selectmen Length of Term: 1 Year Openings Occur: September 30 Meetings Times: Usually once of twice a month The Center Revitalization Committee is charged with preparing a plan for the center which will include but not be limited to methods of achieving commercial diversity, increased social and cultural activity, improved traffic flow, and increased parking. Since its inception, the committee has been composed of Selectmen, Planning Board , and Chamber of Commerce representativen order to carry out its charge the Center Revitalization Committee has appointed a land use sub-committee composed of Planning Board members, neighbors, and professionals in the fields of landscape design and city planning. This sub-cominittee reviews development trends both internal and external affecting Lexington Center. The sub-committee is responsible for defining a "role" for the Center in serving the needs of the Town. The sub-committee is charged with evaluating the potential for expanding commercial activities in the Center, identifying land uses or activities which should be encouraged to locate or expand in the Center; the effects of expansion on existing commercial activities within the center and adjoining areas ` m propos standards for an appropriate intensity of development in the center The sub-committee is also ex- pected to consider the relationship between transportation elements (traffic, parking, pedestrian movement) and land use •development. The sub-committee reports back to the full Center Revitalization Committee which in turn reports to the Selectmen. Criteria for Membership - Members should: 9.•► 40/4004' 44404 Be people of competence, good will and sound, objective judgment; Be drawn from new and long-time residents alike; Be truly interested in the welfare of Lexington and all its residents; Be sensitive to the long-term as well as theimmediate impact of their decisions and recommendations; Be willing and able to devote the time and energy necessary to fulfill their responsibilities.
