HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-11-11-DAC-minLEXINGTON DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE Minutes of Meeting of November 11, 2020 A meeting of the Design Advisory Committee (DAC) was held remotely via ZOOM on November 11, 2020 at 7:30 pm. Members/Liaisons Present: Tim Lee, Caroline Fitzgerald, Brigitte Steines, Chris Johns, Ian Adamson, Uma Ramanathan, Suzie Barry (SB liaison), Bob Creech (PB Liaison) Members/Liaisons Absent : Steve Vincent Approvals: None The Committee reviewed and acted on the following item(s): 1. 7 Hartwell Ave. – ZBA Sign Application The sign was reviewed and the Committee had the following comments: - The overall size of the wall sign is too big, out of scale and detracts from façade, lighting should match building style - Use of exterior or halo lighting is recommended, cabinet for letters is too big - Consider relocating or adding a monument sign closer the vehicular entrance to the building - Could green in logo be more muted or consider using only blue - Consider using only the business logo on the building and not the full name - Eliminate wall sign all together Exhibits presented: Three sheets – Property location sheet showing the existing sign locations on the property, design for the existing monument sign and the design for the proposed wall sign. Documents provided by ICL Imaging Framingham, MA The Committee recommended the applicant return with a revised design for review prior to their ZBA hearing. The applicant agreed to return with a revised design for the Committee to review 2. 411 Waltham Street – ZBA Sign Application The proposed sign was reviewed and approved by the Committee with the following recommendations: - Push red pin stripe border to the edge of the panel - Use the same red on all signs - Keep larger sign below building parapet to align with other store signs - Space cursive letters further apart for better clarity, may require adjusting font size Exhibits presented: Three sheets – Design for larger parapet sign, design for front door sign, design for back door sign. Documents provided by Fast Signs Woburn, MA Other Business: Our Select Board Liaison Suzie Barry provided an update on a few of the upcoming town projects. • The Cary Library new sign • Police Station continued review • Pine Meadow Club House • New Old Reservoir Bath House • New Center Fields restrooms facility • The Westview Cemetery building – continued design review Exhibits presented: Three sheets, design for the larger canopy sign, design for the front door sign and the design for the rear door design provided by Fast Signs Woburn, MA.
