HomeMy WebLinkAboutSchool Master Planning Advisory Committee (SMPAC) Charge -2022 (Adds Recreation Committee member) RECEIVED 2022 03 Oct, %54, aiii7,,i TOWN CLERK School Master Planning Advisory Committee Charge LEXINGTON MA Members: 12 members Appointed By: School Committee Length of Term: Two Years Meeting Times: Biannually (twice a year) or as determined by the Superintendent of Schools Description: The Lexington Public Schools Master Planning Advisory Committee ("Advisory Committee") was established in 2018, pursuant to School Committee Policy BDF. The School Committee recognized that a master plan for school capital projects was necessary and prudent, as Lexington continues to experience enrollment growth. The Advisory Committee developed and recommended a 5-10 year capital plan for school facilities, analyzing current facilities and enrollment forecasts, and developing conceptual plans and timelines for needed additional educational spaces. These documents were approved by the School Committee on May 25, 2021. The ongoing work of the Master Planning Advisory Committee includes the following: 1. Assess current capacity findings and identify options to align future school capacities with enrollment projections and educational program requirements; and 2. Develop recommendations for addressing capacity, including costs and timelines. Criteria for Composition: Members shall consist of staff and citizens with sufficient background to understand facility assessments and the impact of facilities on the educational process, and others with a skill set that supports the ongoing work of this committee. Membership would include from the School Committee, Select Board, Permanent Building Committee, Planning Board, PTOs/PTAs; Recreation Representative, and citizens selected through an application process. While not members, the Appropriation and Capital Expenditures Committees are invited to recommend non-voting liaisons: Ref: um genal Char ce adopted by the School Committee on May 8, 2018. The School Committee approved this revised Charge on August 30, 2022 with the ongoing work and revised composition.
