Confirm Membership The notion of confirming membership for the two Task Forces will serve the purpose of defining and recognizing the players involved in the movements. However, the need for that definition/recognition has yet to crystallize as the Task Forces are still gaining momentum and sorting out their directions. Discussion of Future Committee Plans A copy of the "Lexington 2020 Vision: Now and in the Year 2020"was passed out prompting discussion of where the community was headed. What direction does the 2020 Vision Committee envision itself taking in the years to come? What issues will be facing the Town in the coming years? • Demographics: Carl Valente presented information concerning the changing demographics of Lexington. This change in demographics will necessitate changes in the types of services offered by the Town in the coming years. This is an issue that the Committee may be interested in researching. • Governance: The question of what model of government will best fit Lexington was posed in conjunction to the previous subject. Will the changing demographics of Lexington necessitate another model of government? • Board Relationships: The group discussed the role of the 2020 Vision Committee and its relationship to other boards such as the Board of Selectmen. Can the 2020 Vision Committee work in conjunction with the Board of Selectmen to help create new ideas and carry out projects? • Any misconception/misrepresentation of the 2020 Vision Committee should continue to be addressed. The true role of the 2020 Vision Committee is to serve as a think tank, generating and researching ideas to further progressive, beneficial planning for the health and benefit of Lexington's future community members. The meeting was then adjourned: 9:00 a.m.
