HomeMy WebLinkAbout200x-09-31-SNOW-min.pdf 11 � � �� v b � ���� �1� Snow/Standards Sub Committee Meeting Minutes Septembe 31; 0 am Snow/Standards Sub-Committee of Sidewalk Committee _ � Next Meeting: Friday September 16 11 am Selectmen's Conference Room " Present: Lisa Baci, Marianne Lazarus, Francine Stieglitz, Wayne Brooks,Jeanne Krieger Change in Scope of Sub-Committee We recognized snow removal cannot be treated in isolation,but depends upon maintenance and the condition of the sidewalk. Accordingly,this sub-committee will incorporate the Policy Sub-Committee and make recommendation to the whole committee on • Snow removal policies and publicity • Standards for construction and replacement—i.e. as Sidewalks are replaced and rebuilt,what is the most economical way to deliver pavement that affords � aesthetics acceptable to the community • Maintenance-proposal for funding and development of a master plan that is consistent with construction standards To recommend and promote these policies the Sub-committee will • Prepare material for the Sidewalk website,participate in public meetings and • Conduct interviews with DPW personnel in neighboring communities Educate public and promote current programs and policies Francine's draft is circulating for comment. This will be used as an article for the Minuteman,the website and the basis of pubic discussion to explain current policies of snow removal and the limitations stemming from limited resources. We also recommend that a note about snow removal practices be put in the fall tax bill. Survey—Marianne has a comprehensive draft of questions about snow removal. Lisa and Marianne will expand this to include broader issues i.e. construction materials, duties and responsibilities, funds expended(not budgeted), number of personnel, decision makers for new construction. Any information learned from the survey will support the DPW Dept.'s accredita.tian effort.
