ROUTES IMPROVEMENT
Crosswalk signs—Sadly, one sign was stolen at Outlook and Middleby. Myra will contact
neighbors to ask them to write letters to the Minuteman encouraging its return
Elise will contact neighborhood leaders:
Get general feedback about week
Ask them to make list of walkers in their area—(to get accurate stats for crossing guards etc)
Help identify major routes for priority snowplowing
Help identify other needs (crosswalks, sidewalks, curb cuts etc.)
Other ways to identify needs:
Use stats from Sidewalk Survey
Post notice on BTH and Listsery—more problem areas may surface given increase in walkers
Woodhaven:
Priority area based on survey. Form subcommittee of residents to examine routes and
make recommendation to DPW. Tracey will try to find residents to head it up
FUTURE PROMOTIONS
Once a month have a focus day/week
Week of October 17 Trim and Trash— Thursday after school do Res cleanup.
Autumn treasures day—Nov. 9 Make collage of objects found walking to school
Tally sheets outside each classroom—have data to tis into curriculum. Must wait til
Barbara talks to staff at next meeting.
LEF GRANT
Ideas: pedometers, crossing guard, rolling stick to measure distances, reflectors for
backpacks, sneakers, paying for bicycle training to come. Grant should be written by us, but
ideally come from Barbara Manfredi.
BIKING
Would like to fmd someone to head bicycle subcommittee. Would look into bringing
bicycle alliance in for training sessions. Possibly liaise with Town Bicycle committee.
FUTURE MEETINGS
Future meeting times will be about every three weeks. Next meeting Friday Oct 29, 9
AM. Laura Kerper agreed to take minutes in the future—Thank you!!
