Re: 397 Lowell Street
Verizon Wireless
At its regular meeting on July 10, 2007, the DAC reviewed a Verizon's wireless facility proposal for
397 Lowell Street. Comments focused largely on the position and height of the rooftop screen
enclosure. It was recommended that the applicant move the location 6' further from Lowell Street and
reduce the height from 12' to 10'. The applicant was encouraged to return to the next DAC meeting in
August with photo simulations of the proposal.
On August 7, 2007 the applicant submitted new drawings showing the new 6' setback location and
photo simulations showing options for the facade material (stucco or brick) for review. The DAC is
appreciative of the clarity of the presentation and has the following comments:
- Rooftop screen location (6' setback from back side of building) is reasonable.
- Material for screen wall to be brick (match existing building) with metal coping as shown in
photo simulations.
- The height of the screen at 12' appears tall and slightly out of scale with the building, a 10' high
screen wall would be more appropriate.
The DAC recommends this project be approved with the above-mentioned comments.
Respectfully submitted,
Colin P. Smith AIA, Chairman
