FROM THE HEALTH CORNER:
"Promoting Healthy Lifestyles"
Charlotte Rodgers, RN, Social Services Nurse
IT'S TIME TO THINK ABOUT FLU SHOTS AGAIN!
Seasonal flu is caused by influenza viruses that infect
people every year. In New England, flu season usually
begins in December and lasts until April. The single
best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccine
each fall. October or November is the best time to
get vaccinated, but you can still get vaccinated in
December and later.
The most common flu symptoms are:
• Sudden onset of fever
• Tiredness or weakness
• Body Aches i
• Dry Cough
The Town of Lexington will be offering FREE flu
vaccinations on Saturday November 1, at Cary
Memorial Hall from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. ALL
Lexington residents over the age of 4 years are
encouraged to be vaccinated this year. Medicare
will reimburse the Town of Lexington for flu shots,
so we ask that you bring your Medicare card to the
flu clinic. You may also get your flu shot from your
primary care provider. If you need a flu shot in your
home because you are homebound, please call the
Public Health Nurse at 781- 862 -0500 x 281.
