HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-05-11-LEX250-minTown of Lexington, Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) Meeting on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 Hosted Virtually via Zoom 3:36 pm-5:07 pm Members Present: Suzie Barry (Select Board Member), Steve Cole joined@3:45PM (Community Representative), Steven Conners (Reenactment Community Representative), Barry Cunha (Local Business Representative), Bebe Fallick (Tourism Committee Representative), Cerise Jalelian (Town Celebrations Committee Representative), Julie O’Leary (Civic Representative), Paul O’Shaughnessy (Historical Organization Representative), Mona Roy (Community Representative), Members Absent: Jillian Tung (Music and Arts Representative) Guests: Michael Froning (American Battle Field Trust) 1. Meeting called to order by Ms. Barry at 3:36 pm 2. Prior meeting minutes • First order of business was to vote on accepting meeting minutes from prior meetings. • Motion to accept minutes from 04/13/2022 and 4/27/2022 meetings by Ms. Barry, seconded by several members, approved by all members present 3. Discovery Day • To be held on May 28th, 2022, along Mass Ave, Lex250 has applied for a space • Julie O’Leary has volunteered to help organize the Lex250 space, Mona to help as well. The exact location will be provided a couple of days before the event. • Julie, Mona, Paul, Cerise, and Steve Cole indicated that they would be available to man the Lex250 booth. Schedule to be finalize at the next meeting on May 25th. 4. Outreach Meeting • Barry Cunha reported that the depot was only available for one of the two time slots • Suzie Barry suggested using the lawn in front of the Lexington Visitors Center , she will check with the town about using the space • Mona, Cerise, and Paul to help coordinate materials for the outreach meeting • Need to capture volunteer information, preferably electronically 5. Logo • The logo to be trademarked, the Town of Lexington will outsource t o their legal firms, A&K and Barton (?) • Work is expected to be completed before the end of June for approximately $2k 6. Budget Update • Reviewed the budget categories • Discussed contracting for a web site design (coordinate with Sean Dugan from the town) • We discussed the need to purchase more promotional materials before the end of June • A proposal was presented to provide and install a video screen for the Lexington Visitor Center lower-level space, the initial cost was listed as ~$11K. The Lex250 commission voted to move forward with the proposal and Suzie Barry to ask Casey to get formal quotes for the work and the timeline for when the work could be completed • The commission voted to move forward acquiring a popup tent with logo 7. Video Updates • Steve Cole asked for feedback on next steps for the promotional video • Adding more re-enactment material was suggested • Suzie Barry suggested adding some short interviews with a diverse collection of reenactors • Mona Roy suggested asking people to create and submit short videos on what Patriots Day means to them 8. Guest Michael Froning (American Battle Fields Trust (mfroning@battlefields.org) • Volunteered to help make a brochure 9. Other Business • Suzie Barry reported that at the June 6th, 2022 Select Board meeting the proposal for building a monument to celebrate and commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Battle at Lexington • The generous local donator Howard to be invited to that meeting 10. Next Meeting date • The next scheduled meeting of Lex250 is Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 at 3:30 pm, hosted virtually via Zoom 11.
