Edward Adelman called the June 02, 2022 Historic Districts Commission meeting to order at 5:03 pm.
FORMAL HEARING
Edward Adelman opened the formal hearing for 11 Waltham Street, exterior changes (Privacy Fence) in the
Battle Green Historic District

The applicant explained the proposed changes of Privacy fence at 11 Waltham Street.
The Board agreed that this application will continue to next meeting in July due to lack of details.

The applicant and owner explained the proposed changes of 25 Waltham Street.

The Board felt the proposed plans of signage were appropriate, but some board members agreed that the awnings
were heavy-handed. The Board agreed that this application of awning part will continue to next meeting in July
with a rendering of the awning.
Jeffrey Lyon from 11 Waltham Street stated he was opposite to the awning placement.
Dan Hisel made a motion to approve the application as submitted with the following exceptions: the awnings
will be deferred until a hearing in the future. There will be no planter boxes and no awnings in the alley. The
text “FIORELLA’S” in position 6 of proposed plans will be replaced by some combination of make life
delicious, and the medallions in position 2 of proposed plan will move down from the primary banner at the
top. All letters should be 12 inches. Edward Adelman Seconded. Roll Call Vote: Edward Adelman – Yes,
Robert Adams – Yes, Robin Lovett – Yes, Lee Noel Chase – Yes, Mark Connor – Yes, Dan Hisel – Yes.
Motion carried. All in favor.
Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 25
Waltham Street in exception of awnings. Motion carried, all in favor.

The Board felt the proposed plans were appropriate.

Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 1833
Massachusetts Avenue. Motion carried, all in favor.

The applicant explained there will be no work on sloped roof, so this application will be skipped.
The Board agreed solar panels on the flat roof is out of HDC jurisdiction.

INFORMAL HEARING
Edward Adelman opened the informal hearing for 678 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior changes in the Battle
Green Historic District

This application will move to next meeting as informal hearing due to the absence of applicant.
Michael Cronin, director of Public Facilities, provided the site plan of new Police Station to show the location of
AT&T poles in the drawings. Edward Adelman deferred this application until it is submitted as formal hearing.
ACTION ITEMS
Consideration and vote on Meeting Minutes on May 5th, 2022: The Board made a motion to approve the
minutes on May 5th, 2022 as written. Motion carried. All in favor.
Lee Noel Chase made a motion to adjourn at 6:33 pm. Motion carried. All in favor.
