Note: A meeting of the Commission on Disability was held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, 5:45 PM – 7:00 PM via zoom. Pursuant to Governor Baker’s March 12, 2020 Order Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §18, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 and subsequent Orders imposing strict limitation on the number of people that may gather in one place, this meeting of the Lexington Commission on Disability will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. Specific information and the general guidelines for remote participation by members of the public and/or parties with a right and/or requirement to attend this meeting can be found below. No in-person attendance of members of the public will be permitted, but every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the proceedings in real time, via technological means. (*As per Executive Order regarding remote participation: https://www.mass.gov/doc/open- meetinglaw-order-march-12-2020/download) Please be advised that the House and Senate enacted a bill signed by Governor Baker, which will allow the continuation of remote public meetings until July 15, 2022. The reading was followed by an oral roll call. Review of Minutes: Postponed. Announcements: The Commission needs a volunteer to obtain an update on Parker Meadow. Presentation by Shawn Newell on Fiske Playground: Shawn said the new playground will have PIP surface which is poured-in-place, rubberized and pervious. All parts will be accessible – even a merry-go-round will be accessible for wheelchairs. There are parts that will incorporate natural shade and fencing. Shawn reviewed all parts of the plan and answered questions. Update about Pandemic Effects Work Group: The group is looking for more participants. There will be a push to involve interested groups like SEPAC. 2 Update on Collaborative Reform: The group is writing up a charge statement and will ask the Town Manager to appoint the current members to this sub-committee. Vision of the Stone Building: The Commission voted unanimously to support the vision of the Stone Building Feasibility Reuse Committee (SBFRC) for the future of the Stone Building. Victoria will write a letter for their future discussions with the Cary Library Trustees and the Select Board respectively. New Business: • There have been problems brought to John Livsey about construction access and ramps in the Center that were fully addressed. • There are some spots where the new bricks are breaking near the Clay Oven – DPW will look at those spots. • There was another complaint about the tables at Rancatore’s. Jim Kelly will follow up with this problem. • Jim Kelly said that there is a request for a permit at 181 Bedford Street. He will talk to Ben Finnegan Development. • Janet brought up that there s still a divot in the pavement in front of the Hastings School that is a potential tripping hazard. Jim will look into this. • The Commission wants to give a certificate to Omar’s for showing such wonderful support to those with disabilities. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm.
