Department bids were approved and signed by the Board of payment. Two State Forms to be returned to the Department of Corporations and Taxation listing the valuations of certain corporations were signed by the Board. Mrs . Margaret Merrick of Concord, Mass., owner of property at #34 Cary Avenue, spoke to a couple •.` members of the Board in_ regard to having the assessment on her property reduced. Mrs. Merrick was in- formed that the Board would look the property over and notify her of their decision. The Board at this meeting discussed the matter and voted that no change be, made on the present assessment because they did not feel that the property was over assessed. Mrs. Merrick was to be notified by letter of the decision of the Board. Mr. Spencer informed the Board that Mr. Seaman, Tax Collector, had informed him of certain 1939 real estate taxes that remained unpaid on his book. . In past years the Assessors have granted these individual persons abatements under Clause 18 and Mr. Scamman wanted to know what actiaa if any the Assessors were going to take on these 1939 unpaid taxes. The Assessors knowing the circumstances of these resident real estate owners voted, to abate the following 1939 taxes under Gen. Laws, Chap. 59, Seca 5. Clause 18. Catherine F. Whiting 129.50 Amount of his tax bill A list of uncollected 1937 poll taxes amounting to $20.00 submitted by the Tax Collector was examined and the Assessors voted to abate the said taxes. Letter from Herbert L. Crowley, J14. , new owner of the property at #10 Washington Street, in which he asked for a re-assessment on the pro- perty was read, and the Board suggested that he file the approved abate- ment application after he receives the 1941 tax bill on the property. The Board voted that no abatement be granted to Mr. Antonio Umbrello,Tr. � of #504 Waltham Street on the 1940 Statutory Tixemption Form that he filed on Jan. 28, 1941. 1940 tax bill was for 7132.02. Letter dated March 6th, from Mr. Couette, Agent for Mrs. Lulu M. Blake, informing the Board that the contract had been awarded to a Wrecking Company for the demolition of. the "Blake Castle" was read. Letters from the following persons expressing their thanks to the B.pard for the new 1941 re-assessments that the Board had placed on their real estate parcels were read and then placed on file. 79 Charles S. Joseph Hurley of 9 Vine Brook Road - thanking the Board for abating his 1940 tax under Clause 18 was read. 1 Letter from Mr. John L. Barry of 22 Boer Street thanking the Board for the abatement allowed on• his 1940 tax bill was read and placed on file. Letter from Wilbur Fletcher of 18 Independence Avenue in regard to re-assessing property for 194.1 that he recently purchased was read and the Assessors suggested that he be requested to file a form after he receives the 1941 tax bill on the property. Letter from Attorney George S. Ryan of Arlington Re :account of unpaid taxes and mortgage interest on Mr. 4. L. Suterts property at 15 Hancock Street was read, and the Board rOuested Mr. Spencer to find out from Mr. Ryan the name of the mortgagee and the amount of the mortgage. • Letter was written te.
