Miss Ready were present. 1941 Vater Liens amounting to 43120.44 were signed by the Board. 1941 Motor Vehicle and Trailer Excise Warrant amounting to `310,335.18 was signed by the Board. 1941 Poll Tax Warrant amounting to $7,536.00 was signed by the Board. Department bills were approved and signed by the Board for payment. Letter of appreciation to the Board from Mrs. Evelyn McVetty of 4 Taft =venue was read.for the adsditiona1 abatement granted to her on her 1939 real estate tax bill. ' .t the suggestion of the Board at a prior meeting Mr. Spencer dot in touch with Mr. Thomas H. Twitchell, attorney for the H.O.L.C., In regard to the nine (9) cases that they had entered with the Appellate Tax Board and Mr. Twitchell and Mr. Spencer discussed over the telephone the 1940 assessments on the 9 parcels and Mr. Twitchell told Mr. Spencer that if the Assessors would reduce the total assessments on the 9 parcels 44200 that he would have the cases withdrawn. V All the parcels were assessed to the Home Owners Loan Corporation as of Jan. 1st, 1940. Reynolds, contract manager for_ the H.O.L.C. was notified by letter of the above valuation reductions granted to the H.O.L. . Mildred Cupp of 186 Woburn Street filed an application for an abatement on her 1940 real estate tax and the Assessors having recent- ly viewed the property voted at this meeting to reduce the 1940 assess- ment $ 725.00. Abatement amount voted being for 4i23.35. William and John Porter and Matthew Wilson filed a 1940 applica- tion for an abatement on their 1940. tax assessed on property located ;r:l; at 43 Adams Street and the Assessors recently viewed the property and I at this meeting the ..ss essors voted to reduce the 1940 assessment or the various buildings 47,375. . Abatement amount voted being for 4237.48. The 1940 assessment of ,445,800 was reduced to 4383425. A 1940 Statutory Exemption Application from Antonio Umbreilo of 504 Waltham street was considered by the Board and Mr. Steeves said to lay the matter on the table and that he would investigate„ the case. In 1939 the Board granted this party an abatement of 425.00 on his !! 1939 tax bill under Clause 18. n Vine Brook Road to the Board Letter from Mr. J. Joseaph urle,y of 9 ii was read and the Board after covisidering his request voted to abate the total 1940 real estate tax assessed to 1;`lr. and Mrs. Hurley. Abatement granted under Clause 10. Mr, Hurley has been confined to his home for months, not able to work. . Mr. Hurley :is over 70 years of age and received small pay as a night watchman. Amount of tax abated being for - I�i� 99,32. IMr. Luongo said he had to install a new oil burner in the house the since he purchased it. The Board told Mr. Luongo that they would go down: and view the inside of the house as well * as the outside and notify him of their decision. Letter dated Jan. 27, 1941 from Merrill Hunt, Regional Manager of the H.O.L. C regarding the John D. & Julia M. Barry tax matter regarding was read and the Assessors after considering the. Barry case voted to abate the sum of ''15.93 on the 1940 Barry tax bill. The abatement is to be applied to reduce some of the errearage and help the monthly installments to be 044.90 per month as it was prior to raising the installments t6 50.00 per month which Mr. Barry finds very hard to pay.
