Commitment . of Water. Betterment Assessments. amounting to
0400.50 was signed by the Assessors. '
Commitment. of .Water Liens amounting' to .$9.7.88 was signed
by the ...Board.
Two 1940 Committed Water-Assessment Interes..t Abatement slips
for Watson E. & Augusta B. Hovis were signed by the Board. These
two abatements were granted because .the owner paid up the balance
of his outstanding 'betterments on..June 25th, 1940. The interest
had already been committed to the Tax Collector up to and includ-
ing °October' 1st, 1940;
Amounts, abated'being ,for •42- cents and "54:::cents.
Department bills amounting to $22.38 were approved and signed.
Monthly list of motor vehicles . excise taxes abated. during
June,was signed.
The Table of Aggregates of Polls, Property and Taxes assessed
as of January 1st, 1940 in Lexington was signed so that it could
be:sent to Commissioner Long.
Abatement of Poll Taxes for the year 1940 amounting to $190.00
was-signed'-,by the Board. Various reasons stated on the Statutory
Exemption Applications filed by the applicants.
The 1940 State Form #121 listing the property exempt from
taxation of` various Institutions and the Town property put to
a public use was signed.
This form had to be filed with Commissioner Long on or before
• July 1st, 1940.
The 1940 Assessors Warrant to .the Collector for the various
assessments and interest items, amounting to $14,227.71 was
signed by the Board.
The 1940 Real Estate Warrant to the Tax Collector for
$653,169.76 was signed by the Assessors.
The 1940 Personal Property Tax Warrant for the Tax Collector
for the sum` of 449,735.63 was signed.
Letter to William E. Hurley, Treasurer and Receiver-General,
informing him of the warrant issued to Town Treasurer Carroll
instructing him to pay over the sum of 0104,866.74 on or before
Nov. 20th, 1940 was signed by the Board.
The Assessors ? Warrant to Town Treasurer Carroll amounting
to $724,395.10 was signed by the Board. Of this sum $104,866.74
-is ,to .be paid to William E. Hurley, Treasurer and Receiver-
General, and $28,706.93 to be paid;to Charles P. Howard,
Treasurer of the County of Middlesex.

were signed by the Assessors.
The 1940 Veterans Exemption: Form #12Q. :listing the total
amount of property exempt from taxation under General Laws
Chapter 59, Sec. 5. Clauses 22 and 23 for 1940 was signed.
Only one veteran had filed .the form 'to-date. . Other
veterans will 'file after they get °their. 19-40 tax bills. '
Commissioner Long 's approval dated. June20th, 1940 givii
the Assessors`.authority`-to abate certatn .taxes under Sec. 8,
Chap. 58, General Laws, was received, so: the: 'Board' signed th
necessary papers and Mr. Spencer, Secretary of the Board,.
signed .the :`abatement slips.
