Meeting, May 27, : 1940; :,. '
Messrs Steeves, Shanahan, Emery, Burnham, Cann, Spencer were
present.
At 7:30 P. M. the five members of' the Board and Mr. Spencer
and ,Town Accountant Russell worked on, various .1940 figures and
° the 1940 valuations and°' the`Assessors' fixed' the`1940, tax rate at
832.20.
The rate °could not' be given out or declared` until:'` the 1940
Recapitulation Sheetto be submitted to Commissioner, Long was
" approved by hl'm.
At, 8:00 P. M. the Planning Board came in'_and sat with ;the Board
and discussed, various. matters., rj
° ° The Board at a previous meeting voted to abate the outstanding
1937,1938 and 1939 real, estatetaxes, standing in,.the names of
Anna Dickerson and 'Catherine A. Kimball.
The Assessors having received authority 'from, .Commissioner 'Long
dated° May 23, 1940, signed 'the abatementslips at this meeting.
The following;'abatements were granted under Sec. 8, Chap. 58$
Gexeral Laws.

An unapportioned Water Assessment in the amount of 090.00
in the name of Lily C. Johanson of Concord Avenue was abated
by the Assessors at this meeting.
The Selectmen at their meet. ng held May 13th voted that this
assessment should be abated and gave the Assessors authority to
abate the 190.00 assessment.
The Board at their last meeting voted to abate the 1938
real ,estate tax standing in the name of Cornelius Lyons, so the
Boardat this meeting signed the abatement slips.
The Board at a prior meeting voted to abate the sum of
09.88 on Maria Amaruts 1939 real estate tax.
The 1939 assessment on her property was reduced and Mrs
Amaru was notified of the reduction,andsome weeks ago the
Board received a letter saying she accepted the abatement.,
so the abatement slips were signed at this meeting.
